New thread for our new season ahead of our Australia Cup match on Tuesday night. It's a new era at Victory the Kisnorbo era begins! After the disappointment of last seasons Grand Final defeat and the inconsistency under Popovic the club has decided to go in a new direction with a new coach coming from enemy territory. but no matter what we think of Kisnorbo's past he is ours now and its time to get behind and support him and the boys.. And our girls too who are also looking to bounce back after the disappointment of going out early in finals. I for one is looking forward to Kisnorbo and what he can achieve with our squad which will have a few new faces this season.

They were steamrolling Northern NSW NPL for most of the season, but have lost four of the last five. So we've got them at a good time, no excuses.
Even if we got them on a 50 game win streak there should be no excuses lol but yes rather get them at a good time and make sure we get through.

The INS and OUTs so-far. Re-post from the previous thread.

OUT:
Tony Popovic (Coach)
Paul Izzo, Ahmed Taleb (GK's)
Damian Da Silva, Stefan Nigro, Connor Chapman (Defenders)
Jake Brimmer, Leigh Broxham (Midfielders)
Chris Ikonomides, Salim Khelifi, Eli Adams (Forwards).

IN:
Patrick Kisnorbo (Coach)
Jack Duncan, Mitch Langerak (GKs)
Brendan Hamill (Defenders)
Reno Piscopo, Jing Reec (Forwards).
Colic, Menelaou, Graskowski (Academy elevations)

There have been some big salaries in the outgoings. Popa, Ikonomides, Da Silva and Brimmer would have been on big money.

It'll be interesting if we reinvest it in the squad or we're reducing salaries with the hit to revenue (TV rights + 777).

Da Silva is a big blow. Was counting on one more big season out of the big fella. Ikon leaving strengthens us. Popa, meh. And Brimmer had checked out with the worst GF performance of all time.

We just got to get ourselves a few more quality signings and we will be set. Can Jing Reec take over CF from Bruno? We can't have Bruno playing week in and out. Can we agree an early termination for Mitchy? We need him sooner rather than later. I see Nagoya are in mid table J-League. They have two fixtures only after Nov 9, don't see why we can't get him early. Although our window closes Sept 16 which doesn't help, perhaps we can get an exemption as he has already signed a contract with the club.

Anyone found the squad we are sending to face the Jaffas? Will be an interesting watch regardless given the squad turnover, new coach etc...

Yeah agree Da Silva is the big blow and the only one that hurts.

On Langerak an early release won't happen. It isn't a big deal as Duncan is seasoned and capable.

It'll be interesting to see how we fill our visa spots + we lost our marquee too.

A CF, CM, CB and LB depth seem the go.

This would leave many South Melbourne fans with a very difficult choice.

The South Melbourne fans that have stuck it out are probably the strongest and most loyal football supporters in the country.
