Howes was actually a decent scorer in the VFL, averagesd 87 last year

Didn't even really consider him before tonight
Banked a $50k increase, has to be considered

Plus the tanked BE, you can't really overlook it.
Yep, probably has a negative BE now, some good future coin coming, even on the bench

Hope those who are keen on Heeney (I’m one of them) are watching Horse’s press conference 🥴 Alarm bells.
Really, I must have missed that - he seemed bullish about him going through the midfield in the only comment I heard. He was good, a plus $40k you'd thing and BE dropping

Nope what did he say?
He said that during the game when the tall forward line wasn’t working they talked about moving Heeney into the forward line despite how well he was going in the middle. Went on to say “there’ll be changes during the course of games and we’ll put him where we need him but he’s fine with that now”.

Yeah 100% that’s why I’m one of the believers. Didn’t love the above comments from the coach that’s all.

OK, thanks, Horse channeling his inner Bevo!

Heeney's an interesting case though, because if he's getting even 30% CBA's, he's gonna average over 90 the way he plays.

Getting any CBA's at all makes him probably a Top 6 lock, given just how rounded his tackling, goal kicking and marking game is - on top of disposal count.

Didn't like that presser either though, haha. F*cking horse.

I am hoping the difference is something like this:

Horse: Talks about moving Heeney around but sanity prevails and he realises it’s madness taking him out of the middle when he’s killing it and you have 3 first choice mids missing.

Bevo: Meh, it’ll be fine, we’ll put Caleb Daniel in there as the big body so that Heeney can play defensive small forward.

Yeah the more I think about it I’m not too bothered. Like you said, only needs a few CBAs to score well, and it really would be madness (even for Horse) to move him out when he’s clearly our best big bodied mid for the next few weeks.

Dees board seems to think Salem back until Bowey comes good.

There goes that!
There’s only one expert I listen to on all things Melbourne and that’s our mate Danster. Can you PM him for us please mate? Ask him how Grundy went tonight too while you’re at it 🤭

Over Howes @ 200k?

You gotta think of the extended nature though. Coffield at D6 means decent cover in Howes. You play Howes on field, all of a sudden you've got Dean who might be out the following week, and one of Reid E. Phillips, or Gibcus who might score terribly in a KPD role.

Much prefer having Coffield as D6 given those reasons. Roberts, McKercher and maybe even Fahey will swing back in Round 6, so it'll get a lot easier, but reckon Coffield will be handy for those first 6 weeks.

Good night all round, I reckon. Shame about Bowey as I would be all in on Salem. Clarry going in the right direction too. I was interested to see Jordon's score as I didn't notice too much of him.
