The biggest offenders in this whole saga are the media.

They have the ability to take the moral high ground and say the details may be too hurtful to certain people that we will not share it publicly. All we'll say is that players behaved inappropriately and are being sanctioned by the AFL.

The constant theme here is to think about the real victims who would be hurt by those skits. If the media refused to publish specific details about what transpired, then the public would be none the wiser. Victims would not have been hurt, and the AFL could have provided the appropriate punishment and education to the players involved and actually worked to make the best of a terrible situation.

But no, the media make out like they're upholding the highest standards of morality while throwing the players under the bus, after having made the rational decision to publish those details to generate revenue.

What the players did was wrong, but morally, what the media did was worse. They were willing to inflict pain on victims for profit.

Note: different if images and details made it to social media, but in this case it was all driven by the mainstream media with the aim of making a buck irrespective of how many people get hurt in the process.
Nailed it GTS.
Yes it was all in appalling taste, dreadfully carried out and a completely brainless exercise by all involved, but as a woman, mother of three daughters, grandmother to two granddaughters, I am most sickened by the media for the exacting details they have felt the need to reveal.

No, it's the players.

If the AFL didn't publish details, which were more detailed than the media, then you'd have a whole bunch of people rushing to have a crack at anyone else, including the club, AFL and the venue, before they even consider that the players did something bad. Oh wait, that's still happening, but maybe to a lesser degree.

I think it's in the interest of the industry (at least) to know what occurred and then it's nigh impossible to think the details or falsehoods wouldn't be spread anyway.

Mate you cant be serious no human being is going to have that thinking of making fun of a rape victim.

If so they got off lightly
So when two players decided to dress up as Jarryd Hayne and a taxi driver an simulate sex acts with a blow up doll, what do you think was going through their heads if not that it was funny?

Was chatting to the director of the Tasmanian Devils this week. Interesting to see how they are building the club locally
and from the ground.

Brendan Gale already putting some good ideas in before he even starts. Started a new sports academy with uni and tafe to train people in sports roles - as that talent doesn't exist here generally .

Anyway one interesting thing was she spent time at other clubs and Geelong lead the way in work life balance because their gym is the biggest one in the league apparently .

Means both their men and women's teams can all use it at the same time and get everything done and get home earlier and be on their farms or go surf etc.

Something I had given zero thought too but those little touches may be the thing that gets a player across the line .

This GWS crap needs its own thread now.
Im more concerned about the rise in memberships

Put in the general AFL discussion thread ..... oh

Apparently there's a few player managers have even put the feelers out about their player wanting to move down to Tas when the Devils join too. That surprised me.

I tell you the whole talk, videos, and the plans and passion was quite compelling , almost make you change teams if you were iffy .

Weather and struggling to maintain eye contact across the two heads aside, I haven't even been, but if you're into hiking, fishing, thinking of getting into whisky or gin production and away from bigger cities, why the heck not.

Proof will be in the pudding at the end of the day, the local pipeline will be important , like the academy for us.

This will be big to create those family bonds which we know are important to Tasmanians.

I am taking that with sincerity 😂. The biggest thing here is making the whole state get on board and not fighting over it 😂
