I feel like the connection with Vic fans has not been maintained since Morwood moved on.
I'll always remember in 2005 when there was a small event at a South Melbourne pub to watch a replay of the Grand Final. Morwood walked in carrying a huge sports bag and went up on stage. To our surprise and delight he pulled out the premiership cup! We all got to have our photo taken with the cup.
Tony is still up there a couple of days a week with the foundation

Yes he is. Not in the front facing role of looking after the Vic connection through members though. Heard anything on the grapevine that the club is looking at moving away from lake oval and setting up an office nearby the South Melbourne market? Can’t remember where but heard a whisper of it during GF week.

It was a great day. Back then there were no smartphones and I wasn't aware that the premiership cup would be there so I didn't bring my camera. I'm sure it was the owner that took a photo of my dad and I holding the cup and he had the photo developed for us. It was probably your mate! He was very generous to do that.

I really don't know why they don't insert an additional bye round. Start where opening round does then Rounds 7, 8, 9 first byes and 15, 16, 17 second byes. 24 Rounds. 22 played.
Six teams each bye. Too simple?
