Nominate a player (or players) who you think may be surprise regulars next season.

My smokey is Buku Khamis.

The conundrum being how many tall forwards we play. IMO, I can easily see all three of Astro, JUH and Khamis in the forward line together. We can't have more than that. That means I can't have Lobb or Darcy in the side.

The issue then becomes who relieves English in the ruck? It might have to be Astro. Left field suggestion but if Khamis bangs down the door like I'm expecting, I can't see how you can leave him out.

Buku is a Lobb/Darcy but 20cm shorter

Wouldn't be surprised to see O'driscoll play round 1 and a fair chunk of games out of the forward pocket. Adds a good endurance/Speed combo we have lacked up forward. Finishing top 10 for 2km, agility and vertical leap whilst winning the 20m sprint is a great combination.

Charlie Clarke. We need a small forward and he's come back in excellent shape after having no pre-season last year.
James O'Donnell could well stamp himself as our no 2 KPD too given what he achieved last year off no pre-season

Get around him...

We definitely need some young talent to step up this season. In the previous 2 seasons, we've had a severe lack of youngsters push themselves into the best 22. The only ones I can think of are Richards (2022) and JUH (2023). The rest have sort of battled around the periphery.

There's plenty of candidates this year. JOD, West, Jones, Bedendo, Poulter are all guys that can make themselves best 22 players this season in areas of need.

Bedendo could play round one if he stays injury free IMO, big if though.

Bukus been training in defence according to training reports which I’m stoked to see. Would want to see him at VFL level put together a strong stretch though but there’s a spot for him there especially if we go with only the two talls.

Gallagher is my pick too, he already has the body for it. Big preseason and there’s a spot for him

Arthur Jones. Another pre-season should help because he was looking good before being physically cooked halfway through last season.

I’d say Coffield but not sure if that counts. Think Harvey Gallagher also a chance if he can stay healthy

If we only go 2 KPD (Jones and JOD) plus Coffield at AFL level it will be a tall VFL backline with Keath, Gardy, Buss, Croft, Khamis.

Khamis plays forward and Likely Croft will play VFL there too rather than backline. Coffield could play as a medium defender anyways with Dale, JJ & Richards.

I'm going Vandermeer back in the forward line having finally a breakout season. The last game when he was moved forward was much better there.
