Add to this, Damon Hill was in the interview with Horner and mentioned how Verstappen showed his brilliance coming from 17th. Horner cut in and said they 'will have to get that on record, Damon said something nice', Hill went into defensive mode after that.

Red Bull vs Skysports/British media is top notch.

I don't understand the wet tyre thing with safety car, it happens almost every year recently. FIA need to make a change to the rules when it's raining and make it clear what is going to happen.

How can it be fair to those who looked for an advantage and put on the correct tyre (W), those on new/old inters and the wrong tyre pay no penality.

Why would anyone pit for wets ever when they are counting on being give a safety car/red flag, it's a massive disadvantage. All it does is encourage a dangerous practice

Agree. Why have a wet tyre at all when drivers know they can just play chess and ice skate around on inters and force the red flag for a free stop.

There were 3 or 4 drivers who took the punt on wets and were making their way through the field only for it to be taken off them..

The wets are there and everyone should have been forced to either hit the wall or pit for the wets first before you red flag an event.

I think it all boils down to the spray that kicks up once its full wet mode. It's always considered too dangerous.

Agree - IMO they should never red-flag a race due to the conditions - up to the drivers to safely navigate the track as prepared. Even delaying the start of a session is a little iffy.

Red-flag on an incident sure, but the driving skill to keep a machine on the track in those conditions is part of what makes the sport incredible. I didn't care if lap times were 10-15 seconds off what they can do in the dry - I could appreciate the minute car-control and incredible reactions of the drivers.

Personally, I think they need to re-jig their whole Red Flag procedure.

My suggestions are:
  1. No work to be done on the car (i.e. repairs), other than changing tyres (see below). The use of blowers to keep air moving through the brake systems is OK.
  2. Teams are allowed to change from slicks to inter/wet tyres, as this is a safety issue. Teams are not allowed to change from one slick compound to another, or changing between inters & full wets.
  3. Cars to be "shuffled" in pit lane, so that they re-start in their running order (i.e. P2 starts directly behind P1), lapped cars are shuffled to the back of the queue. No "lucky dog" unlapping.

It was to be fair. Any time anyone makes up a huge chunk of places because of boxing or not boxing under a safety car or red flag it is pure luck.
But by making up those spots, you're staying out in shit conditions with worsening tyres. To keep the car on the tarmac takes a lot of skill, not so much luck. Strategy can be luck, but making the strategy work is skill, as with any race strategy.

Just like when you undercut someone, it is luck to do the strategy, but it takes skill to get the car around faster on an outlap with warming tyres to get round and do the pass before other car exits the pit. Stupid reasoning from Lando and shouldn't be justified by anyone. Ever.

It's not just about the drivers - it's also about the race marshalls and controllers.

Flag marshalls need to be able to see the whole of their sector - from their flag point, to the next flag point. If conditions are so bad that they can't safely do so, then the race needs to be red flagged.

Yeah, it would be best if you still had red flags for the weather.

Maybe more use of the safety car if it gets dangerous and it looks like it will clear soon. I do think you should just get rid of the wets for the race. Once you are using them, then it is unsafe due to the spray

On the race. Damn Max, that is one damn fine race. The start was amazing, and the overtakes of Piastri and Ocan were dive bombs. Dive bombs in wet conditions while still making the corner safely for him and his victim.

Just a special performance.

One other rule...

If teams need to make modifications to the car - be they repairs, or tyre changes - they can only work on the cars in their pit areas, and they cannot start working until after the pit lane exit lights go green.

They should get Danny boy back for the last 3 races of the year and send him off properly. While Max tore up the track with a brilliant win, Perez couldn't even get in the points!

Should happen but won't. I doubt they even sack checo for next year it's a joke.

1. Hopefully this puts to a end the team orders at McLaren. Norris is a serial bottler who cannot win the WDC (at least not this year anyway).

2. The commentary team couldn't even give Max credit without having to bring up his previous incidents. That was an unbelievable drive just leave it at that. Bit of a shocker across the weekend for the Sky Team.

3. If you were Haas, you'd have to be a little worried about your investment in Bearman. Will give him the benefit of the doubt in his third race, but he looked out of his depth.

4. I cannot fathom a scenario where Sergio Perez is in F1 next year. Surely he does the honorable thing and announce his retirement in Abu Dhabi.

Sergio won't retire he wants the money. Didn't you see his tweet.

And if Lando had of won under the same circumstances then he would not have described his win as “lucky”. It would have been about his drive and the teams decision making.
Max was unbelievable in those early laps. Absolute car control while others struggled.
I seriously doubt Lando could have won from 17th. No matter the “luck” involved.

Problem with the safety car under these conditions is that it goes so slow the F1 loses downforce. The one thing that it needs in these conditions.

It's weird because he seems like a genuinely smart guy (compared to the others minus Bernie), so how can he not see how obviously one sided he is.
He was talking away for ages while we were watching Sainz slide into the wall.
We saw the whole incident and it had finished before he even woke up to it.

Well retiring will be offered to him as the graceful option.

Otherwise he will be sacked and paid out.

I don't think they will because they want to keep his sponsors. Sadly.

Piastri should not have to let Norris past, the 'dreams' are over.

This choker isn't winning shit
Probably cost McLaren a point & Oscar a position with the 10 second penalty.

It's not like Lando was going to overtake a heap of drivers on the wet track... as he's no Max.
