Cripps is certainly at a similar level to Judd as an out and out gun, and I loved Juddy and saw him close up regularly for us. Judd at west coast was prime Judd though.

Judd was out and out a better player than Cripps. Maybe it was just the level at the time. Maybe it’s just me being an old fart. But it’s Judd for me. If I was a blues supporter it’d be nice to reflect on a two time Brownlow winning premiership player when he hangs them up

Deserving winner but can't help but feel this award has lost a bit shine and credibility after tonight.

Feel like a 5 vote system would change it enough. You’d get forwards from good teams getting a 3 or 2 most games with the occasional 5, which would put them right up there in the final count.
 
Well, the White Mice Exploded tonight, and thank goodness it was done by a proper in and under footballer who takes on tacklers, and, believe it or not, makes tackles too. How extraordinary in this day and age of the engrandisement of the bruise free, that a bloke like Cripps wins the Brownlow. Thank goodness!

Not a chance. Cripps is more likely to turn a game on his own than Daicos is. Won’t be as flashy with running goals etc but will win every contest he’s in and multiple clearances in a row to get the ball going the right way.

I think they did the same in the Daicos match where Nick was subbed off & Josh had 34 disposals...

The Brownlow is an inexact with the 3-2-1 system and only midfielders polling heavily.

I do have a theory as to why midfielders poll heavier now than ever before, one is because umpires look at stats, but when footy was more a one on one game and less zones etc it allowed for more influential players from different positions and roles. Now the only ones who can have a massive eye catching impact are midfielders really.

I believe as of 2 years ago umpires don’t get stats any more. Or access to their phones. That’s why we saw what we did tonight with 45 and 38 votes, because lower profile players rarely vote as umpires don’t notice them and don’t get stats to see who dominated. And they can’t see stats to correct errors like giving Cripps 2 votes against Essendon when he had 19 with 1 effective kick for the match - and just 3 clearances.

It’s also why Neale won in 2023, despite not making AA and being a rank outsider. He just kept polling as umpires were not noticing anyone else and didn’t have stats to help them spread some votes around.

If Brisbane win the premiship how does Darcy Fort deserve one over Big O, especially if he does nothing in the Grand Final?

That’s rubbish, Cripps has dominated plenty of times to either drag us over the line in games or drag us back into a game.

As someone else said, people are making out it’s like Matt Priddis 2.0

Judd was another player that got a second medal undeservedly.

There is a reason coaches allow players like Judd and Cripps to get the ball, their not as damaging as other players. But the umpires think they're the best.

Potentially lol

Amon has a weird Brownlow track record though. Got 15 votes in 2022 out of nowhere (only got 14 coaches votes for the season). Got 3 consecutive BOGs and got 1 coaches vote from the 3 games combined

They are so determined for everyone think their 2017-20 period is the greatest dynasty and period of football any team has had ever, and Dusty is the greatest ever and no one before or since can be compared to him or that team.

I mean id have loved a period like that but it seems a bit of overcompensation to do with how rubbish they are now and likely to be for a fair while.
