Also is Lalor deciding to go play cricket if it gets too hard and the Hammys don’t hold up a worry, especially being a number one pick?

The de goey comparison is a concern more than a postive in my mind.
Lalor is on the heavy side for a mid and de goey can hardly stay on the park for a big portion of his career.
Blokes like petracca are one in a thousand and his work off the track is second to none.
Is Lalor that commited? Will it be easier to fall back to another sport if his body doesn’t hold up?

Petracca was not a dedicated training freak early on in his career… he took a few years to embrace all required to be a star. Remember he barely played midfield for the first 4-5 years of his career.

This I don’t know, I’m only really getting info from the Port side of the fence.
I see some good players at these picks. I’m not sure it’s worth it.
But a trade should be fair for both sides.

Surely with 10, 11, 18, 20, 23 there’s a mix that makes it work alone.

Confused why other clubs need to get involved.

Do you have any inclination of what or how this #10 ties in with #13 + #29 ?
And if GWS supposedly knocked back #3 for #15 + #16 is correct then that just doesnt make sense on how these 3 clubs are dealing

Don’t really see the hype around whatever pick happens to be the first of the 2nd round

Every year it talked up like it has more value but if clubs are just basing the player they draft off the rankings they have been doing the work on for the past 2 - 3 years it’s not like the rankings should shift

And all picks are open to be traded if a player slides anyway it’s just this one has a longer period to negotiate to secure the pick

It’s probably about trading into 2025. A team sees X player is still available and really want him, so they trade into 24 with their 2025 1st. To us that could be pick 18, still an upgrade, or a top 5 pick if we’re lucky!

It gives 24 hours to canvas and work out a live trade, as opposed to five minutes.

I get that in theory but in practice and I could be mistaken but that pick has never actually been traded live

I know live trading is relatively new but if it was such a big deal like it’s made out to be surely it would of been done at least once by now

Kinda just seems like we are attaching extra value to it for something that doesn’t happen

Probably in the rookie draft if we have any spots left
Should have picked him in the msd, we had a spot available. Would only require a contract extension now instead of a draft pick. He would be the perfect replacement for Kmac. The fact we have now kept Kmac is not a good sign for Davidson. Keeping Kmac does my head in. Just doesn’t make sense.

"We" including the several clubs coveting it.

Hoe long has there been live pick trading? When did they split the draft into two nights?

It doesn't just give the club holding it more time to do a deal, it also allows them a full day to reflect and compare who's still available, weigh up offers and play teams off against each other.

Just because it hasn't been traded yet doesn't mean there weren't good offers for it. Likely to be even more so in this draft.

But are we and several clubs actually converting it or have the media and fans just assuming that we are

Not saying it’s not the case but I would like to see more evidence to conclusively say it holds some extra value in the eyes of the clubs

& if it does have more value is it even tangible in terms of a trade or would it just gain similar to any other live pick in a trade anyway

If we are just talking picks I would still prefer to have pick 23 this year over 24 because it gives us an extra player that is available to pick from

Like we have both alluded to it’s still very early days in terms of both live trading and the two night draft so it will be interesting if this is the year we actually see something happen with it
