There's a significant difference in the talent and positional importance/need of Tauru and the three you've listed.

People are allowed to have their preferences.
Not really. All three of them were late risers in their draft years. Alix's story seems very similar to Jackson's as a late comer to the game who has shown elite athletic traits as well as some areas for improvement. Like you I would still prefer a mid at pick 5, but am 100% fine with Tauru if he's the pick.

I remember Clayton as a bolter, didn't make the vic country rep team but played bloody well at TAC level which put him in the conversation.

There was an AFL article on him maybe a couple of months before the draft with this photo and I remember thinking I didn't want the club to touch him he looked so out of shape.

To his credit, at his peak Clayton turned himself into an elite runner which was the biggest knock pre-draft.

I was keen on Aaron Francis in the draft that year :drunk:
His highlight video posted by MFC the night we drafted him was so damn good.

Hypothetically Tauru, Allan, Lindsey all still on the board at out 2nd pick. Who would you want? Sounds like the club loves Tauru but i think Lindsey is more what we need.
It’s so tough!

I think I’m with;

1) Lindsay
2) Tauru
3) Allen

I will be happy with any of these 3 though, particularly if we get Langford.

He's in better shape in that pick than he was this year.

He's got his fat fat sacks of cashed tucked away, it's time to climb aboard the McNugget train!

Your hate boner for Fritta is weird. If he was super physical he'd just about be the best forward in the comp.

Alas, he's great at everything else as a forward. Finds space, great mark, excellent converter (usually), can make things happen out of nothing .... without him up forward we'd have a bunch of slow donkeys who try hard but do little else.

My dislike for his soft playing style is easily remedied. All he has to do is grow a pair and go when its his turn.
And chase and tackle with some vigour.

He would be shown up by our AFLW players in the tackling stakes.

The bonus with Lindsay being I dont think he'd look out of place on a back flank in the round 1 team at all, dont need to shoehorn him in positions perfectly capable of playing multiple roles (mid, wing, hbf). Got to get over the Goody/Salem road block of course but **** me it would be nice to replace Salem with Lindsay down back.
and 'old slow hand' Lever next, for a more uptempo model.

My guesses...

1st pick - Jagga Smith is already gone so we take Langford.
2nd pick - Allen and Tauru gone so we take Lindsay.
OR If all 3 above are gone we try to do a pick swap with Port and then take Berry (or just straight up take him if we can't split).
3rd pick - Riak Andrew or Dom Brew

Trainor dropping to 28 in the late mail draft is incredible, I know he has concussion issues but **** me I liked his tape. Wish we had a pick around there if he dropped that far, would be a fantastic stash for two years in the VFL.
