Just thought of this scenario off the top of my head. (Note: I doubt NM would agree to this but just seeing what you guys think).
Straight swap - Parker for Will Phillips.
IIRC he had a few games as s tagger and went pretty well. Injuries and illness have cost him I believe. He is not getting a go at NM maybe cos of unfortunate circumstances. We get another inside mid that can play on ball and "mind" their assigned oppo player; they get a veteran with true leadership that can guide their young and inexperienced players.

That too. The other two aren’t any good. That whole draft was awful aside from a handful it looks one of the poorest drafts in history
Still banging that drum.

Gruzewski has been doing well in the VFL, played 4 late games for seniors this year, kicked a couple against us, is contracted til 2026. Just awful...

Barnett less so, but still ahead of Konstanty and Vickery. Talls can take time, and even you've admitted he'd be worth considering.

Keane was just on trade radio.

Only thing of note was it doesn't sound like we intend to just give Parker to North Melbourne for next to nothing.

Also said the same stuff that has previously been said about Konstanty and Warner.

Happy with the 2 picks. Might bundle to try and move up, might stay put, might also move back.

I’d consider him as a token third slightly different to wasting a first on the bloke. Gruzweski is average at absolute best we have two playing this year that are way better.

I bet we only draft KPP if we can, as all future academy look like mids.
Not true - Max King I think is a KPP, and the year after we've potentially got McCartney (if he doesn't choose the Roos instead) and McGroder (if he doesn't choose long jumping).

Swings and roundabouts etc.

I doubt we get Grundy or Adams for the price we paid if we hadn't built a reputation for being reasonable to deal with.
Yep, because two decent ageing players that both clubs didn't want makes up for years of getting rid of the likes of Tom Mitchell, Aliir Aliir, Nankervis, Nic Newman, Darcy Cameron and Jordan Dawson for WELL below their market value.

King is more like a Bont type (191cm), a tall on ball/forward hybrid. Chamberlain is the one your thinking about as he is also 191cm so could grow to 195+cm and be a good 3rd tall

Neither were first rounders.

You can say Gruzewski is average at best, Giants disagree, but he's ahead of our entire 2022 class. No idea what you mean by two playing better.

Anartey and McLean are significantly better anyway what’s the point. No issue getting Barnett for a token in the 40’s or 50’s but was never using a top 25 pick on the bloke

Agree Amartey before this year had 46 goals in 18 VFL games and he has made a pretty big leap this year at AFL level.

Gruzewski has 56 in 26 games including 30 in 14 games this year. Yes he might be better in the long run than Amartey but he isn't better atm so he would just be sitting in the twos like he is at the Giants and much like Buller was when injury free for us

For reference Buller has 24.20 in his first 13 VFL games and had 24.15 in his first 10 games before i think his back started to give way

There is a story to each of those.

Dawson we haggled right down to the last hour but Adelaide had us over a barrel and they knew it.
