We better not jeez. He’d last a year before wanting to go home. He lasted a year in Geelong before reports were he was homesick
With GC and Brisbane academies now heaving with talent I feel like the Swans are in the position that the North Syd Bears, Easts, Newtown and Balmain found themselves in NRL. Areas too wealthy for families, and especially the kinds of families that play and excel in footy.
Plenty of young families left Melbourne in the period 2000 onwards for cheaper housing and more space.
We got none of them. QLD got a heck of a lot of them.
Given we hold no advantage of the Vic teams in go home factor. And very little in the academy compared to the above two...We are going to struggle to get over the line in a GF, even with the kinds of players we have in our first team currently. Our VFL team is also weak possibly indicating not much depth IDK, maybe it's purpose is not to wing games but to develop kids....and that'd be ok too.
How to overcome the above....is to get MUCH better at drafting first round picks I guess. Starting this year. And playing young players, rather than playing the likes of Francis who might scrape us the odd win being solid-ish, but not get us where we need to go in the medium term.
Draft a KPD or two, a KPF with acceleration and power, and give them games early, or time for Snell & Edwards. Ready or not. I'd rather get into the 8 in 7th spot having blooding some talent that might develop into high end that wins us the ultimate, than qualify 3rd and fail again. Throw Sheldrick into that mix too. If he's not playing preseaon in the midfield we need a new coach pronto.

He's now in his 30's and I'd say far more mature.
Here's a little story of mine. I moved from Melbourne to Brisbane in my early 20's and lasted 18 months before home sickness got the best of me. 10 years later in my early 30's I moved to Brisbane again, this time leaving all my family behind. 2 1/2 years on and I don't miss home one bit.
Maturity for men usually comes later on. If He moved, I'd back him to put in 2-3 good years before moving back after retirement.

Stats prove he is the best KPD, McCartin intercepts the ball way more than Melican and has much better marking ability

Pigs fly too, not remotely taking that gamble that he might be more mature. Yeah we could get pick 13 and get way more than 2-3 years on a best case scenario.

It’s incredible how nobody really questions they’re cap.
In two years they have potentiall brought in bruhn, Henry ABSORBED A SALARY DUMP in Bowes , resigned max on long term big money deal, brought in Bailey smith and potentially Clayton Oliver

I don't think I have my players mixed up...? But isn't he the guy with concussion concerns and will most likely drop from the top 10. We, of all clubs, can't take that risk

We take on Grundy with pies paying 35% of his salary and our cap is at bursting point apparently
Adams is on a bit.
Parker's deal was supposedly 4 x $700k wasn't it, so that should free up some cash.
If Warner doesn't commit, then we've got at least a year to front end someone.

Arrh there you go one game, hasn’t had anything else. Still the highest defender on my board by a distance too. He won’t be available unless we trade Chad anyway so he’s only half relevant.

Yeah, but the Parker 2025 salary is an unexpected gain.
If Chad stays but doesn't commit, we can front end someone a bit next year.
Though it looks like Frost, Kennedy etc would likely stay in Vic (young families). Oliver isn't worth the risk/cost.

Don't even know why we are discussing him tbh he won't fall to 21 or so when our first pick is on the board and I don't see us trading anyone to get significantly up the board.
