1. Francis didn't officially have a contract but it was unofficial he had one in front of him1. Francis and Hamling both did not have contracts for next year. Only Hamling until 2025.
2. It does not help with salary cap but it frees up spots to draft players in the ND. This year and next possibly.
3. I doubt other clubs are going to pounce on Hamling or Francis.
4. Sometimes players we want are unlikely to be drafted from the ND and will be available in the Rookie draft and/or we have eyes on other players.
True, but I'm talking about draft assets. You don't know that until they've played.
I just sat through basically 10 years of us doing almost nothing trade and free agency wise because we always had no salary cap space, while probably 20-25 highly paid senior/premiership players retired or were traded.
Meanwhile Geelong move one player on and that money immediately becomes available for them to spend on a player for the following year.
Who the hell knows how salary caps work?!
How? If we feel he is worth pick in the late 20s and we match him with our 2 late picks. What is the waste?
Haven't you cottoned onto it yet?I just sat through basically 10 years of us doing almost nothing trade and free agency wise because we always had no salary cap space, while probably 20-25 highly paid senior/premiership players retired or were traded.

If we had a professional media, they would have a rule that if they were comparing a non-white player with a similar looking non-white player, then they should have to try to think of the next 2-3 players they think also think are similar, and the decide out of the total 3-4 players who is actual the most similar.
To be fair, they should also do the same for white players. I am sure there are occasions where white players are compared to white players when they may play more similarly to a non-white player.
On point 2, I'd be surprised if at least 3 or 4 of Rampe, Mitchell, Ladhams, Wicks, Corey aren't gone at the end of 2025.1. Francis didn't officially have a contract but it was unofficial he had one in front of him
OK. You have inside knowledge I am not privileged to.
2. I know that it opens up ND selections, however there is no point on opening up ND selections if you have no intention of using them. Having 36 main list spots would make it that they would not be using the spare picks, 37/38 would suggest they do intend on using the extra picks
We may need them next year. We do not have retirements possibly until 2026.
3. I doubt it too but there is no point on even chancing the 1% chance when you have a certainty result sitting right there in front of you of just keeping them on the main list and going with 38 main list spots. Given that 36 main list spots and both of them on the rookie list is no different to 38 main list spots and both of them on the main list.
You confuse me with this logic but I reckon the recruiting team knows who they want and where they want them on the list be the main, Cat A or Cat B. They know better than you and me.
4. Don't even know the point of this one and probably proves my point further that we may need the selections at the back end of the ND to select them rather than "risking" them being selected before us in the rookie draft.
And they are more speculative and they are on your main list and next year you have to get rid of better players because you have some spuds on your list taking up main list spots rather than rookie spots.
So we can draft more onto the main list from the end of 2025 if so. Plenty of spots available. On point 2, I'd be surprised if at least 3 or 4 of Rampe, Mitchell, Ladhams, Wicks, Corey aren't gone at the end of 2025.
Suspect Lloyd, Fox and Adams might be in line for the rookie treatment.

I was being facetious. We may need the extra list spots too to match bids remember you can only match with the amount of picks you have list spots
I was being facetious.
You are still right though lol
Yep. I reckon 2026 will be a year we have a few dropping off and major changes to the list. You are still right though lol
Nope. 3 weeks to go and small FWD and KPF with first 2 picks. Just JMO.With 1 month to go for the Draft voting for what we should do with for first 2 picks is currently a draw between 1) Best available for both and 7) KPF & Defender
