Nah, I'm sick of having to repeat myself.
Including that only 2 of the 4 Brisbane "small forwards" people froth over were actually small forwards when drafted. Bailey was a mid, Ah Chee an outside mid / half forward.
But you did name 2 of the 5 similar type options we've got excluding Wicks.

At least their coach actually plays them instead let’s go on with the tallest and slowest side and wonder why we get trounced keeping it in 50. You need smalls and Brisbane still play 2 small forwards anyway.
Lions play 3-4, though Lohmann is effectively a medium. So really only Cameron was a legit small fwd at drafting.
We agree on making the forward line smaller, for me a 2-2-3 structure (assuming one on the bench).
Logan and McLean/Amartey
Hayward and Chad
Papley, Campbell and Cleary
Hanily and Corey next in for smalls, Florent is always an option.
Draft at least 1 medium forward as competition for Hayward. Chad might chase a bit harder if he's a chance of getting a goal out of it.

Agree would draft a medium at our 4th or our rookie there’s so many of these types, actually think it’s a good draft depth wise for these hybrid medium forwards very easy to fine there’s a lot of them. Would go the tall forward then a small. Then either inside mid/med forward either or one of the two. Small defender in the rookie
Think a medium helps us more in the short term if we're dropping back to 2 KPFs.
There's a lot of small forwards using that logic, and we at least have options, unlike medium where we have Hayward and maybe we could successfully use Chad off half forward, and that's it.
You can make that your cattle but you still have to structure accordingly. Playing Logan as a HHF sucks big time.
Perhaps a better setup would be to use McInerney as the other medium (with Hayward), he's tall enough and evasive and can swap with a winger to keep the oppo on their toes.
Then Chad and Heeney can rotate through the midfield. Heeney forward when McLean is rucking.

I want Chad out of centre bounces for the most part. Down to 20-25% at most. Give him tackle and 2nd effort drills all summer. He can finish things off, make him create more goals.

This is why I am consistent we need Cleary (replacing Parker) and then one other small to medium I would personally go the small. We can’t leave everything to Papley

I think people froth over Brisbane's smalls because they're a really, really good group. All four of their smalls (five if you want to include Rayner) kicked 20+ goals this season, and three of them averaged more tackles inside 50 than our best player in this regard.
So you cite their example of turning non-forwards into quality forwards, but they got lucky. They were successful, their players turned out to be good, arguably better in their new positions as small forwards than in their previous positions.
Just because it worked for them it doesn't mean it will work for us, so while I share your optimism and hope that Horse invests in a group like Cleary, Wicks, Campbell, Florent & Hanily, surely it can not hurt to have another option on the list with much more proven form & experience, even if only as a junior, in this sort of position and role?
I don't necessarily have an issue with us drafting a small forward, but it's behind a medium forward (we have Hayward and crickets), a KPF (if we stick with 3 in seniors), another inside mid and a small defender.
Rayner and Lohmann aren't exactly small forwards, they're +/- 1cm versus Hayward. I think one of the medium options in the 20s, as well as Warner playing more fwd strengthens us there (he might chase more if there's a chance of a goal), as well as Campbell and Cleary getting plenty of opportunity.
If we end up getting a Gross or Hannaford in the 20s or Phoenix Hargrave later I'm OK with that, I think they can be good options forward, and they can run through midfield too.

Another complete lie:
Played U16 Championships in 22 & 23. Debuted in U18 last year. Played for NSW U17-18 Team and was selected for National Futures Match on AFL Grand Final Day. Played 1 game in our VFL side R20 this year and played a full campaign for the Allies.

If Trainor is available at our first pick, should we take him? Means he would have slid a bit (e.g. Cal Twomey rated him as 7th best player just 4 months ago). The main reason for the slide appears to be concussion concerns but perhaps not only. Locking down on his opponent is not his strength - he's more of an interceptor and rebounder - but he's also versatile and could be swung forward.
I'm pretty keen on good lockdown KPDs which is why I'm interested in Mraz, Cole and Dennis. Mraz in particular has the height but also comes with injury baggage - a navicular injury in his foot, and they are a big deal of ACL proportions. Not necessarily as long to recover but I think they can recur. Isn't that what did for Matt Ling? I also like Barratt.
Despite myself and my decision to avoid wasting too much time thinking about the draft, as it gets closer, I'm weakening.
