We need a contested marking forward, which West is, and it'd be Sims or Gerreyn for that earlier.

My point to this was to try and address consensus needs. If I went a KPF and KPD first up, I'd have you and others complaining about no small forward in the 1st round.

Also can't be confident of any of the touted KPDs being available late. Maybe Dennis but probably not.

If we move to 2 KPFs then an addition becomes less critical.

Also couldn't fit every need in 5 picks, so have tried to cover potentially 3 bases with Whitlock and West (KPF/tall medium).

None of those three forwards you listed I rate at all especially Gerryn who is horribly overrated has so many issues.

I wouldn’t take a KPD at all, Cochran is enough yes he may not be one but we have enough defenders even if we don’t take one.

We need a small forward more, a medium one and definitely an inside midfielder

Outside run?!

Oh boy.

Don’t disagree actually we looked dead slow in that GF. It’s why I’ve been saying we might go the key forward but we need a small fwd/mid and then we may look at another need. Slow talls I doubt are on our radar

JFC

2-way mids sure, but this reads horribly.

Wouldn’t read much into it. Just means we need some mids and you can never have too many maybe one that’s more a fwd mid. What it may mean is the 3rd pick might be a quick winger not an inside midfielder

"Coming off another crushing grand final disappointment, the Swans have reportedly identified outside run as a need and will target endurance-types with their two first round selections"
Cite your source please DQ, otherwise I'll have no choice but to take this to the federal police.

I'm just trying to suggest options for the type of KPF we need. People lament our marking/contested marking, so that would be the type we need I'd have thought.

It was a consensus suggestion. The only reason I'm suggesting Hannaford is because other people want a small forward, and his defensive pressure is what we need from that type (which I already think we have on the list), as well as his ability to lockdown in defence.

Who is available where, comes into it. If we had 3 picks in the 20s, I'd probably even be able to satisfy you.

I'd be all for plundering 2025 and 2026 drafts to get another in the Top 40, and get our academy kids next year.

Contested marking and you list Gerryn? That’s the one that’s weird to say the least. I’d be happy with Hannaford would rather take Berry or Dattoli in the first round though. I do like Hannaford though.

This is why I’d be selling our f1 many won’t agree but we literally have 2 years of futures to match next years kids.

This would allow us to get another pick in the 20’s, Richmond’s pick 24 for our f1 and maybe we could get a Davis type or something

Probably the only thing we don't need is more outside run. Or at least it is well down the list of areas we need to improve.

How would our 2027 futures be able to match a bid next year?

You can trade two years in advance from next year our 2027 f1 is probably worth more than our 2026 one as we are possibly expected to be out of our window then

The answer is in the post.

We use the next year's picks to boost our picks in 2024 and 2025.

If you're in the window, and there's a lot of talent on offer, get talent in earlier.

Bingo and you can always go into deficit on a bid anyway. All for trading our f1 next year

And by getting an additional earlier pick this year, by using a 2025 pick, which can be offset using 2026 and 2027 picks, you may have an additional player ready to keep you in the window.

Exactly look if we basically say next year is for the bids unless we come last which we won’t next years picks to improve the list are useless get an extra one in this year

Take out the KPD one and I agree. Would look for a wing or a small defender personally
