All im saying with regards to point 2 is that we are going to get that first round selection whether it be in 2024 or 2027.

I just think that many have said that the depth of the draft is where the value is and thus later picks are where the undervalue comes from in this draft not in the picks in the mid teens to early 20s.

Therefore it is more valuable to still have our F1 and picks in the 40s-60s than giving away our F1 for pick 25, but in the end thats just my opinion on how i view getting maximum value out of the draft.
I get the comments about depth, but from my perspective there are specific needs and then specific players that seem to address those needs in the draft. So my justification would be doing whatever we can to lock the best possible players in for those needs before other teams pick them, without being outrageous obviously. Timing, windows and advanced development and all that.

A lot of my draft scenarios have been switching priorities around based on what others have said they want, and there definitely appears to value late across a number of positions.

I'm just suggesting with this pick trade and selections, what I would look at doing.

Having said all this, if we keep our current picks, use our firsts and then later picks on some of the players I've mentioned, or at least the types we need, then I'll still be pretty happy about our draft.

I think we need another one or two by end of 2025 given likely exits, so common sense says if you're drafting one, do it sooner... but we do at least have 2 that might be ready for some games next year. In terms of key forward depth, we have a hobbled Buller (still have hopes for him) and medium forward, we have none, as examples. I still think we pick a KPD in addition to Cochran, but maybe late/rookie.

Agree on inside mid drafting, should get one.
I don't see Francis, Cochran or Snell as lockdown KPDs. The only one we might have had is Hamling and we have declined to use him. All our eggs are in the Edwards basket. I would really like us to take Matt Whitlock, spend a couple of years building him up.

What you say about getting development into players early is bang on. The earlier you start the sooner you get return on investment.
My only caveat is that I would like to see better development than we have been providing of late.

It won’t be- next years is highly compromised. Get the talent in now

You can get good talent later in this draft - Kennedy, Johnson, Boxshall, Ough. O'Farrell, Gerreyn, Sims, Stumpf, Murphy. I'd take 4 in the 30/40s rather than our top 2.

If it ends up us taking only 2 live picks and Cochrane soaking up the 3rd we've bombed this draft.

I'd look to trade one of ours for the Dogs 25 and 35. Or 19 + something for Richmond's 23+24

We wouldn't have opened up so many senior list spots if we weren't intending to take 4 at least in the national draft. Think we're likely to take 5 at the national, including Cochran, then a rookie.

Matt Whitlock is another intercept defender. One of his biggest weaknesses is his strength due to his body structure. Would just be adding another 2nd/3rd tall type

How much better is a small forward going to be from Cleary or Hanily etc.
How much better is a KP player going to be as they take 2-3 years to develop
Usually the high impact players are the mids or wingers and we sure as hell don't need a winger

So the only player that could really impact is a tough gritty on baller or potentially a medium forward. Of which the hope would be that we grab a medium forward early anyway.

Just hope out of the draft what ever route we go it shows that we are intent on change the forward structure, whether that be to an extra small or a second medium just hope we go and focus on that end of the field
a small fwd like Datolli could be better.
