AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
I'm not sure Mraz getting to 40 is sliding at this point. He's late 30s or beyond probably, due to injuries.Hannaford then Whitlock because Whitlock could play both ends of the field. Then Miraz slid so he picked him up at 40 when it should have been Day-Wicks at that point and then he just decided to be lazy and pick Cochran at 54 when i was screaming out for Murphy
You could look at it as 3 KPDs but you could also see it as KPF Whitlock, KPD Mraz and utility who knows what Cochran. I wouldn't have picked Mraz but the other 3 are OK IMO.There was a YT live mock draft and Sydney ended up with Hannaford, Matt Whitlock, Noah Miraz and Joel Cochran.
Single handedly the worst set of selections i have seen in this offseason by any mock draft and i had so much respect for Dylan and the work he does but its clear he doesn't understand the bidding system and secondly was lazy with looking at the Swans needs. We don't need 3 bloody KPDs
No but his highlights, body structure and other recruiters all lean to this paragraph pretty wellHave you seem him play ?
Yep 100% it was more so the process that occurred to that point and what he was actually saying that disappointed me most. He almost also took North's F3 for Pick 40 the Miraz pick. If he selects Day-Wicks and then at 54 selects Kennedy i would have been very very happy. You could look at it as 3 KPDs but you could also see it as KPF Whitlock, KPD Mraz and utility who knows what Cochran. I wouldn't have picked Mraz but the other 3 are OK IMO.
Finishing 6th i think personally would probably get like #20 next year. Its fully an NGA/FS/Academy draft for everyone next yearIn 2025, we can use 2027 picks as leverage too, not just 2026.
If we had Pick 12 next year, I'd imagine we'd try and use it before any bids. I suspect finishing 6th will net you around pick 15 given free agency, F/S and other academy bids. But as long as it doesn't get close to where we think the academy kids get bid on, we'd keep it.
If we don't lose any players, I could absolutely see us raiding 2026, then raiding 2027 in 2026 if we do have highly rated academy kids.
So then if we're just going to use the F1 on a single player, I think it's worth considering bringing it forward.
Turn it upNo but his highlights, body structure and other recruiters all lean to this paragraph pretty well
"Down back, Whitlock projects as a capable interceptor who can play loose or peel off and impact the contest. He is not a one-on-one defender, faring best when not engaging physically, but rather coming in over the top or cutting off opposition kicks by reading them best. On the turnover, his agility shines with weaving rebound runs and transitional passages which see him chain possessions like a smaller player would."
So you know better than all the recruiters as well as historically players with that body composition plus also his playstyle and attributes himself lend him to be a taller intercept defenderTurn it up
How dare i question you about footy and recruiting , so sorry , play on !So you know better than all the recruiters as well as historically players with that body composition plus also his playstyle and attributes himself lend him to be a taller intercept defender
How would you describe Matt Whitlock then? How dare i question you about footy and recruiting , so sorry , play on !
Haven't watched him live , but i trust KB , only praise who ive watched live and did 11 seasons in the old days doing itHow would you describe Matt Whitlock then?
So how do you know if another poster is accurate on a player or not?Haven't watched him live , but i trust KB , only praise who ive watched live and did 11 seasons in the old days doing it
I ask and it's obvious . So many in the media don't watch , it's all content crap .So how do you know if another poster is accurate on a player or not?
Seem to recall you saying that Twomey watches, and he refers to M Whitlock like others do, a "marking and intercepting centre half back".I ask and it's obvious . So many in the media don't watch , it's all content crap .
I watched for 11 years , not now , but know people that do
Just let him be seems to know better than the recruiters yet isn't paid to do that job.Seem to recall you saying that Twomey watches, and he refers to M Whitlock like others do, a "marking and intercepting centre half back".
He seems to me to have the frame to fill out significantly. Also very versatile and good below his knees, a decent kick and reader of the play. I would not be upset to see us draft him.Matt Whitlock is another intercept defender. One of his biggest weaknesses is his strength due to his body structure. Would just be adding another 2nd/3rd tall type
I wouldn't be too upset if we drafted him im just saying that he isn't going to become a super bulky player. Would be more so disappointed if we didn't draft medium/small forwards around him and CochranHe seems to me to have the frame to fill out significantly. You can get good talent later in this draft - Kennedy, Johnson, Boxshall, Ough. O'Farrell, Gerreyn, Sims, Stumpf, Murphy. I'd take 4 in the 30/40s rather than our top 2.
If it ends up us taking only 2 live picks and Cochrane soaking up the 3rd we've bombed this draft.
I'd look to trade one of ours for the Dogs 25 and 35. Or 19 + something for Richmond's 23+24
Wouldn't have thought we could afford to give up our F1 this year with the number of good academy kids next year.
Yes but trading it 2 years down the line is fraught with massive danger especially with it holding the value of a pick #14-18 when it is realistic for us to finish that season outside the 8. Personally too much risk to trade F1's when your competing because you can loose out massively if you fall off the cliffNew trading rules come in next year- you can trade 2 years on advance. No reason we can’t trade our 2027 first round to get points next season
And you could also have a quality player ready to impact that helps you stay in the window.Yes but trading it 2 years down the line is fraught with massive danger especially with it holding the value of a pick #14-18 when it is realistic for us to finish that season outside the 8. Yep and thats the risk you take with it. Just don't think its the smartest idea to trade FF1 in pretty much any case scenarioAnd you could also have a quality player ready to impact that helps you stay in the window.
