Hannaford then Whitlock because Whitlock could play both ends of the field. Then Miraz slid so he picked him up at 40 when it should have been Day-Wicks at that point and then he just decided to be lazy and pick Cochran at 54 when i was screaming out for Murphy

I'm not sure Mraz getting to 40 is sliding at this point. He's late 30s or beyond probably, due to injuries.

Not sure about Day-Wicks at 40 myself, though don't know about who else had been taken in his draft.

And yeah, no way do we draft Cochran until the rookie draft, without a bid.

There was a YT live mock draft and Sydney ended up with Hannaford, Matt Whitlock, Noah Miraz and Joel Cochran.

Single handedly the worst set of selections i have seen in this offseason by any mock draft and i had so much respect for Dylan and the work he does but its clear he doesn't understand the bidding system and secondly was lazy with looking at the Swans needs. We don't need 3 bloody KPDs

You could look at it as 3 KPDs but you could also see it as KPF Whitlock, KPD Mraz and utility who knows what Cochran. I wouldn't have picked Mraz but the other 3 are OK IMO.

No but his highlights, body structure and other recruiters all lean to this paragraph pretty well

You could look at it as 3 KPDs but you could also see it as KPF Whitlock, KPD Mraz and utility who knows what Cochran. I wouldn't have picked Mraz but the other 3 are OK IMO.

Yep 100% it was more so the process that occurred to that point and what he was actually saying that disappointed me most. He almost also took North's F3 for Pick 40 the Miraz pick. If he selects Day-Wicks and then at 54 selects Kennedy i would have been very very happy.

Also i don't believe at all that Cochran will be a winger, more chance of McGroder being a winger than Cochran. Especially because Cochran struggles to kick on the run which is crucial for a winger. As Cochran says himself he seems to play a hybrid version of Blakey and McCartin:

Cochran looks to a pair of current Swans for inspiration. He enjoys the way Nick Blakey takes the game on with his leg speed and kicking, but is also a fan of Tom McCartin's ability to lock down on opponents. The Sydney supporter currently plays more like the former than the latter, so can continue to work on his defensive craft and pushing from contest to contest with more intensity.

In 2025, we can use 2027 picks as leverage too, not just 2026.

If we had Pick 12 next year, I'd imagine we'd try and use it before any bids. I suspect finishing 6th will net you around pick 15 given free agency, F/S and other academy bids. But as long as it doesn't get close to where we think the academy kids get bid on, we'd keep it.

If we don't lose any players, I could absolutely see us raiding 2026, then raiding 2027 in 2026 if we do have highly rated academy kids.

So then if we're just going to use the F1 on a single player, I think it's worth considering bringing it forward.

Finishing 6th i think personally would probably get like #20 next year. Its fully an NGA/FS/Academy draft for everyone next year

Simply put the Whitlocks aren't going to turn into a Curnow or McLean and is more likely to turn into a King brother or Amartey type of forward or a Harry Himmelberg down back

Just let him be seems to know better than the recruiters yet isn't paid to do that job.

I'll back the recruiters who are all saying he is an intercepter than a scrappy contested muscle player

Matt Whitlock is another intercept defender. One of his biggest weaknesses is his strength due to his body structure. Would just be adding another 2nd/3rd tall type

He seems to me to have the frame to fill out significantly. Also very versatile and good below his knees, a decent kick and reader of the play. I would not be upset to see us draft him.

I wouldn't be too upset if we drafted him im just saying that he isn't going to become a super bulky player. Would be more so disappointed if we didn't draft medium/small forwards around him and Cochran

You can get good talent later in this draft - Kennedy, Johnson, Boxshall, Ough. O'Farrell, Gerreyn, Sims, Stumpf, Murphy. I'd take 4 in the 30/40s rather than our top 2.

If it ends up us taking only 2 live picks and Cochrane soaking up the 3rd we've bombed this draft.

I'd look to trade one of ours for the Dogs 25 and 35. Or 19 + something for Richmond's 23+24

Yeah no you can’t you need a bunch in the top echelon. Rather keep the picks but add one via trading our f1

Wouldn't have thought we could afford to give up our F1 this year with the number of good academy kids next year.

Yes but trading it 2 years down the line is fraught with massive danger especially with it holding the value of a pick #14-18 when it is realistic for us to finish that season outside the 8. Personally too much risk to trade F1's when your competing because you can loose out massively if you fall off the cliff

Yep and thats the risk you take with it. Just don't think its the smartest idea to trade FF1 in pretty much any case scenario
