AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Rampe about done. There was a YT live mock draft and Sydney ended up with Hannaford, Matt Whitlock, Noah Miraz and Joel Cochran.
Single handedly the worst set of selections i have seen in this offseason by any mock draft and i had so much respect for Dylan and the work he does but its clear he doesn't understand the bidding system and secondly was lazy with looking at the Swans needs. We don't need 3 bloody KPDs
If we're going smaller at the first two picks, Hannaford or Gross for me. Both can play forward, and roll through the midfield after they mature. We might have options to play at small forward, but we don't have any small forwards to play there outside of Papley and Wicks...we really do need one or two more on the list.
That said hard to pass up Hynes if he is on the board at our first. Will play 150 games by the look of him. And we really need KP options too...
I'd be happy with a small and a KP forward too. Dattoli and Faul if we are lucky?
I can't for the life of me see how inside mid is even anywhere near a need. It's literally the last position of need we have.
We have: Rowbottom, Mills, Adams, Sheldrick, Heeney, & Warner with Cleary, Gulden and Jordon who can all play.
We got smashed in the clearances in both 2022 and 2024. Our clearances levels are below average as it is and in the finals we get smashed there.
Off topic (for the 127th time)We did have a couple that our useless coach would not play
Off topic (for the 127th time)
Please move to the 'sack horse' thread.. there I dont have to read it
Same argument for small forwards though. It is linked if out coach won’t play them- why draft them
GF version Hayward doesn’t get a game anyway. Should have sacrificed him to keep our cap in better shape. So you want Hayward to have no replacment. If Hayward goes down its season over
There is like 6 small forwards and 8-10 mids who can play small forward in the top 40. There are 3 medium forwards in Hynes Davis and Day-Wicks. The drop off from Hynes and Davis to Day-Wicks is much larger than the small forwards.
Thirdly you didn't answer the question other than saying No which is just not an appropriate answer.
Melican will stay as long as he stays fit.Rampe about done.
Melican on the last year of his contract?
Two spuds in reserve.
A couple of Swans academy kids nobody seemed to rank too highly when we drafted them...maybe they'll be real good, NFI.
It's not like we couldn't use a few KPDs....
And Hannaford fills a spot in our weakest depth chart positionally, has a late year birthday, came on strong toward the end...has played small defender...not from Melbourne.....seems to fit the profile we'd want in spades.
Calling it the worst set of selections is a bit much. I'd be content with that lot myself.
For him, maybe. It wouldn't be season over for us, at all.So you want Hayward to have no replacment. If Hayward goes down its season over

And you know this because...Melican will stay as long as he stays fit.

He seems to be happy here, he'd hopefully feel like he owes the club a bit after years of injuries throughout that 3 year deal. And you know this because...
If he has another good year he can walk himself to wherever he's from and get a $800k a year contract.
Norf will be ready to play finals and have a deal sewn up by June I'd reckon. If I were his manager I'd have an agreement done right now for 4 years at 800k with them.
Why not hope he has learned a lesson with mids then?I have hope that he may have learnt his lesson late in the year with small forwards

Probably not i was a little pissed off last night after watching that draft. Just hate it when Victorians try and mock Sydney because they always stuff it up with mass project talls that won't impact for 2-3 years. For him, maybe. It wouldn't be season over for us, at all.
