Hmm do we trust North to leave Sheez there.
Depends on how the Fisher situation develops you’d think. If he comes into the side at some point then it would probably spell trouble for Sheez staying in that role

Sheezel to remain down back as Roos assistant reveals McKercher plan

North Melbourne assistant coach Leigh Adams has given Kangaroos fans an idea of what to expect from No.2 draft pick Colby McKercher in his first AFL season.

While the Tasmanian was drafted as a classy and prolific midfielder, Adams says McKercher will be deployed in a half-back role to utilise his speed and kicking much in the mould of teammate Harry Sheezel and Nick Daicos in their Rising Star years.

At this stage, it looks like (Colby) McKercher will come off at half-back and (Harry) Sheezel will probably start there as well.

“It looks like Bailey Scott will probably come off half-back and play wing from there and I'm hoping maybe Zac Fisher – who didn't play today - when he's up and running that he might go through there (half-back) as well.
“So, there's a bit of that and I think how successful Sheezel was being able to come off half-back last year and see the game coming at him a little bit instead of getting hit by those bigger bodies all season, probably allowed him to have a really consistent (season).

While a backline including McKercher, Sheezel, Fisher and Scott offers a lot with ball in hand, Adams isn’t certain whether they’ll all be deployed there at once as they look to get the right blend between attack and defence.

That North backline is going to get absolutely slaughtered most weeks

Teams will be regularly putting up 25+ goals on them you'd have to think.

Stream forwards against them in draft for sure.
Think positive. 25 behinds.

What, you dont have faith in Corr and Pink against Cameron and Hawkins?

Our plan is for our league best midfield not to let it into our backline preventing any goals kicked us at all.
McKercher and Sheez are playing off half back though, Simpkin rumoured as forward to allow time for the young guys and Thomas doesn't look likely to play again at North if rumours are correct...soooo... it's just LDU, Wardlaw, Powell, Lazarro and Phillips - gonna be a rough year in the mids too if that's all ya got, haha.

Personally i think Harry will run through the midfield more than HB in saying that it was a little tongue in cheek you realize but our midfield is coming along very well.

Okay I have a hot take here, Call it Crazy, Call it Whack but hear me out

Hawks are injury plagued, especially in defence. With Sicily potentially having an adjusted role, this maybe opens the door for one person in particular

My fellow Pasta eating companion MASSIMO DAMBROSIO. Rode the sub last year although averaged 71 when he wasnt the sub in 2023. Is priced at 51...

IF he can find a spot in the league squad - He may be a lock at D3/4/5

Thoughts?

Not a crazy idea if he's best 22 and playing a friendly role. A pre season watch

Have had Duggan in since I first picked my team and after watching the WC intraclub he's locked. Will be the biggest beneficiary from Hurns retirement imo

So many cheap +6s
Duggan has been in and out for me but a likely starter since day 1. Everyone has been talking about Young, Daicos, Stewart, NWM and Sheezel but Duggo isn't being talked about enough IMO.

I have been curious about him. Gonna be a lot of ball down there and you need a good distributor. Is he taking kick ins too?

Only problem I have is Stewart is around the same price, and he is the guaranteed guy down there - so hard to pick a similar guy who might not score much differently. Sheezel in a similar boat.

For sure, I get that. He wasn't taking kick ins today, which is a bit of a flag.

The role he was playing when on the A team today looked like if he doesn't take the kick ins he's a high chance of being the one being kicked to...was just hovering behind the play down back which is pretty much what Hurn did mostly from what I saw

With the ball likely to spend a heap of time in WCs defence and Duggan being captain I reckon he'll clean up with easy +6s

The captain element shouldn't be underestimated.
