Interesting to hear Mike Whiting and Dom Fay be pretty certain that Will Ashcroft will nominate for us, would think they may have some inside word saying the club is pretty confident he’ll be here.
They did seem very confident.

It's actually pretty rare for a father/son not to nominate his pops club.

Norf will probably bid on him with pick 1
Sadly we are one of the clubs it has happened to.

North must be hoping they win a few games and climb off the bottom or that key forward (Lemmey?) keeps rising. They really dont need another mid at this point

Levi Ashcroft named in the U16 Vic Metro squad. Could be an opportunity for the brothers to play together in the future if things fall the right way.
Probably unlikely they would play together at AFL level if Will doesn't nominate us, the cards would have to fall their way re where clubs finish in Levi's draft year.

Good selling point... hey Will nominate us and you have a good opportunity to play alongside your baby brother.

I've said it before - if Marc Murphy never happened I doubt we'd be talking about this anywhere near as much as we do.

Lemmey looked awesome last year so I don’t think it would be too big a stretch to take him at 1. Having said that if the top 3 mids this year look a level above I don’t think they should be passing them just because they have a lot of mids already, outside of JHF I don’t think any of them are either proven or good enough to pass on another pick 1 type talent for.

Interesting, Bradshaw might be one to watch for the year as well as Fletcher and Ashcroft. Don't know much about him other than he is a big bodied midfielder iirc?

Over-ager. Definitely showing more this season. Time will tell.

Has anyone ever had 3 father-son picks in the one draft? Adelaide had 2 not too long ago right? Tyson Edwards's son maybe and someone else

Mitch Wallis and Tom Liberatore in the same year. But yeah not sure 3 at once.
Not sure we go for 3 mid/flanker types again this year after last years draft?
As long as Will nominates the Lions, I can see us taking both he and Fletcher but we need to start building some KP depth after that imo.

KPP quality late in the draft is unlikely. If Bradshaw is good enough to be considered a second round talent I say we stock up while we have easy access and then focus on KPP the following year.

I agree that we will have higher picks the next year that we can use on more highly rated kpp talent.

This is a deep draft for KPP’s, particularly tall forwards.

I’d still be taking one if there. Look at Mitch Lewis at Hawthorn, was literally the last pick in the draft, his year.

If we take a KPP I would back our draft team in, but ultimately KPP in later rounds don't have the best track record. If we managed to find a good one alongside Will and Jasper we'd be laughing.
