Anyone with any interest in the incompetence and money over club and supporter mentality of the AFL should look at this analysis of the FIXture



It is damning in how incredibly wrong it is for everybody except Collingwood, Carlton and Essendon.

And they wonder why people will start to walk away.

Lots like me have walked away… just follow on the sidelines. Nobody is going to do anything about it because they can always point to crowd sizes and claim “success”.

Two things:

1: don't take the bait from others on "look at all the money you get from the AFL". You can't have the fixture maximising bigger drawing games without it, and the AFL knows this more than anyone.
2: the fixture can be fairer - standardise the amount of interstate travel Melbourne teams do, space out the byes (and get rid of the one before finals), embed the rotation of double up games (like the NFL embeds their fixture years in advance). That will eliminate a lot of problems.

Also, next year will be better because this year fixture cluster... was caused primarily by ANZAC Day eve being a Wednesday night.

Thants so good. That and the fact the saints paid off the docklands for the AFL (put 800,000 more people through than the next team), yet the “big clubs” complain about equalization payments!

Yep i don't mind it all, the gate is only part of the revenue, but make it public that the equalisation isn't a hand-out, its making up for the fixture which IS the hand out.
