Don't think there's 90k entering a ballot...

Just thought that's how many members we have who are entitled to apply. So they could.
Regardless, The AFL have a cash balance of $164 million this year and allowed us to be charged even if unsuccessful.
Not the lousy six bucks, but the principle. What business charges for something you don't get? Should be refundable.

Each member barcode will be charged a $6.00 non-refundable fee at time of registration to cover administration costs.

So 90k x $6 = $540 k or half a million dollars

Seems its very lucrative to get into a prelim and then press a few buttons. Ah, sorry - Admin.

They will tell you it is for their IT system. The IT system that got hacked and all our personal details stolen. Ticketing agents the absolute worst.

It is a lottery, that is what you are paying for.

Do you get a refund if your lotto numbers don’t come in?

Thy are F##kers. I've reported to AHRC because the only way we can get wheelchair tix is through their phone line, which they never answer and cut you off after waiting. Then have to wait for return call from filling in a form, and good luck with that. Club won't help. When I finally complained about the so called accessible phone line, they said we're very busy and need staff.

A lottery is a gamble you willingly take, and they don't have a lottery licence.
We are paying for a business transaction- give and receive service.
I'm saying it's overpriced calling it admin charges, for no return mostly.
Multiply by four clubs and they are making millions off the back of hopefuls.

You know what you are signing up for.

If you don’t want to take the gamble of being allocated a ticket, don’t pay your $6.

Simple really

I have emailed them - was just seeing if anyone else didn't get this.

Cheers.
I didn’t get the email either, then realised I haven’t received an email from them since mid August. Scroll down the bottom of a previous email from them and click ‘Update subscription preferences’ and check if ‘Email Opt-In’ is ticked or not; mine wasn’t for some reason even though I never opted out haha.

Ok, no need to get pissy. I thought it was obvious...

It states it when you purchase/renew your membership.
Yep trying to find the email details I thought it would be on the cats app in the mobile membership but alas it’s not

And yes I will get pissy with that response hopefully the club abit more polite in their response than yours

I don't have a membership this year, but in the past I found if I logged in on the computer to a member portal other then the app, it gave me what your after.
Im not sure if this still exists. Hopefully it does and helps.

Thanks I tried that and still no details it’s very weird

I’ll wait for the email response from the club hopefully tomorrow

Why are you an apologist for ticketek? It’s an absolute rort.
We will pay because we want tickets, priority 1 is a guaranteed ticket yet it is $6 just to enter a barcode.
4 clubs, we have 90k members, I think about 50k enter the ballot for our club.
That’s $300,000 on 1 club, they’ll make roughly a million dollars before any club has made it through.
Ticketek is a disgrace.
Their job is to sell tickets and they struggle big time at doing it well.

I am not apologising for anyone.

Let’s not pretend that this is not a transaction for everyone involved. Purchasers included. The purchasers who want tickets can opt out at any time if they don’t believe they are getting fair value.

If you really want to blame anyone, blame the afl who outsource this process to a for-profit organisation. Why would ticketek do it for free? They are in it to make money.

The afl could control the process, set up an ecommerce website and run it themselves. But it would be an inefficient shitshow and you would likely complain about how difficult the process is, rather than complaining about the $6 fee.

Welcome to capitalism.

In terms of tips, if you have 3+ membership barcodes, split them up into groups of 2. The number of barcodes doesn’t increase your chances, but number of entries does.

In 2022, we split our 4 into 2x2 and got lucky with both coming through, but 2 is better than 0.

If you have a Premiership membership the tickets should just be handed over to you. That’s the rort part.

The rest of it requires ticketek to do provide a service so I’ve got no issue paying the $6.

Why the hell would you be so insistent on defending this rort? Money not an issue for you?
We all have choices about what we spend our money on.

AFL grand final ticket ballots are a discretionary spend. Why should a discretionary item linked to an entertainment product be free?

If you want to argue that health care, public transport, education should be free then I would agree with you. But a discretionary leisure item should be free? Sorry, that makes no sense.

When did I say free? It's the six bucks.
