I wouldn't think so. We have Pittonet TDK Mirkov O'Keefe supported by Silvagni Young and maybe McKay & Lemmey. More than enough on one list

The thing with recruiting to many rucks is not just the list spots, it's the fact that you have 2-3 guys having the split the ruck minutes in the VFL every week, which hurts everyone's development. No coincidence O'Keefe looked a lot better with Mirkov not playing.

It'll be interesting to see how they split ruck minutes next year at VFL level. You think they'd will want to give O'Keefe more, but Mirkov is a bit of a liability if you play him anywhere else. Will be even more interesting if we go in with 1 main ruck for games, leaving TDK and Pittonett in the VFL too. That is assuming we have no injuries which we will at times.

O'Keefe is the one I reckon that can step up quite quickly. Quite mature and has some real mongrel about him.
I really like HOK, but he has not turned 19 yet, so a little patience please. If he gets a game in 2024, it will be from necessity. Expect him to become “a force” in the VFL over the next two years. Then the fun starts.

Our ruck structure is going to play a part. If we play two rucks, then he only has to “share” with Mirkov, with Lemmey cameos for development. If we play TDK and pinch hitters, development will be a bit slower.

Probability of 4 rucks being fit at the same time is virtually 0 (well probably closer to 25-30% but still very low)

I really hope Pitt is fully recovered from his knee issues next year. I think he is being judged lately as the player of the last 15 months when he has had to get up and play after a not quite right recovery from his PCL. He was flying when he first did it and has clearly been down on mobility/leg strength since. He has still been servicable for OUR set-up though.

He is still in his early prime as a ruckman...what is he?...about 27. If he is recovered from that lingering knee, and doesn't have to play resembling a mummy, i still think our ruck combo, in their still youngish but now prime ruck years, are a great combo for THIS team of the next 4-5 years.

Great list management to have O'Keefe and Mirkov learning and maturing in the 2's, but i'm in no rush at all to move Pitto on any time soon.

Fingers crossed for the big fella, and us, that this break is the one needed for that knee to finally heal right. As the great team/clubman he is, he has battled wholeheartedly for us while less than match fit imo.

Big pre-season for H in ruck school needed to get up to scratch.

If Mirkov can step up, would be an interesting combo with TDK.

This would be good for Harry's development as a forward. Was surprised seeing him ruck how poor his body work was. Getting this right would help with his body work as a forward, something he is not great with. He also needs to ruck in the forward line. Definitely a point to improve on.

He seemed to be petrified of getting a knee in the nuts
Did anyone think of the possibility that it was deliberate?

He had to go onto the ruck because we had no-one else, but Harry is far to valuable to be smashing up his knees in the ruck. He was probably instructed to avoid potential injury as much as possible.

Bad news re the Irish chap but at least it happened before the rookie draft although maybe we can only replace with a SSP?
Don't know. It depends on:
1. Whether he has actually been listed or not.
2. If he has been listed, then whether as Cat-B or Cat-A.

If he hasn't been listed (and listing closed yesterday - and we don't know when CFC found out about the injury), then we might still have that slot free to use on draft day (either main draft or rookie).

If he has been listed as Cat-A, then yes, we can put him on the Inactive List on Dec-1, and invite a player to train on with a view to the SSP.

IF he has been listed as Cat-B, then I don't think there's anything we can do about it. Maybe make him Inactive and list another Cat-B rookie? Not sure how that would work.

We need answers, Bletch!
13-Nov has passed yet no announcements???

• extra draft pick in ND?
• rookie spot?
• was either Duffy or Monahan to be an A rookie?
• does Cotters still get elevated?
• another Irish prospect to replace?

I do wish there was more transparency about this (from the AFL if not the clubs). Don't know why the list lodgments can't be published.

Any chance we might move Saad out of the backline. As he’s getting older I’d love to see him in a wing/HHF role kicking inside 50. Will the likes of Williams returning he is definitely rely going to take that back half role. Kick ins. And moving the ball out of the back half with potentially young Boyd.

We need to start transitioning some of our older players to less important roles to develop new players in these positions.

I also love the idea of Saad kicking it to our forwards.

This doesn't rhyme..try again.

If Docherty isn't going to play back with Williams, I think Saad needs too. Otherwise, it is too easy to shut one guy down. Think this impacted Saad's form last year. Still plenty of room for Boyd, Cowan, Cincotta ect to be used rebounding if their form warrants it.

Also, Saad is not fit enough to play wing and never been a natural goal kicker. Think Williams is more likely to go to a HFF eventually. I could see Saad transitioning to becoming more of a lockdown small defender as he gets older and loses some pace with younger guys taking over his rebounding role.

Would love another of him to play further up the field but I feel he will be part of a trio of hard running elite half backs. IMO a good half back is just as influential and important in the game as a good winger or onballer. Think Williams, Boyd and Saad rotating with Newman will make a killer combination in what I am hoping will be a much improved rebounding game for us.
