Even if that is the case I still stand by the point the addition of Smith skillset is more valuable to our side than Kemps.

If Smith leaves, which i think he will and he wanted to come to us, his value wont be too far off the pick we have, i agree with some of your points regarding why his value wont be too high. Clubs dont swap players, so if we want Smith, just go get him.

Ny feel is that he will go to the Hawks

It's been said by many, for a long while now.

We can't continue to retain so many injury prone players and while no one has their papers stamped, the pile would have commenced

The names are clear, just a matter of which names are first

There’s four clear ones on the list and out of those four, two play more than the others, easy call if things continue as they have.

Is Owies at risk of being delisted? Not sure of his contract status.

That type of finish on the weekend really wouldn't help internal opinions.

If you look at the injury history of Motlop, Durdin, Fog and Fantasia, delisting the most durable of them all would be a risk, even though he is a journeyman player. Id say he should be our back up small who mostly pays VFL but through injury he’s in the side.

Owies busts his arse, loves the club and is a smart player, i would have a few ahead of him to cut first.

He’s very good mates with Daicos, the pies will go hard for him!

Also, Owies plays in the manner of a bigger forward, but he doesn’t have the body for it. Arguably doesn’t have the upside of the other out-of-contract players, especially when age is taken into account.

I think there’s a lot to play out, hopefully another 21 games to make better assessments.

That clanger of an open goal was really, really bad though.

Unless either of them request a trade, there's no way I'd be letting go of Durds and Motlop....both young, and they haven't played a lot together - but imo, they'll develop into a dangerous small forward duo. Fog has been awesome.

You're 100% right though - Owies is not a small forward in the traditional sense, and doesn't have the basic skills or speed to become a constant threat. He gets in dangerous positions sometimes, but I can see someone like Moir overtake him pretty quickly as the player to occupy dangerous space - but with the freakish skills and overhead capabilities to support it.

And that clanger of an open goal was really, really bad...I mean embarrassingly really really really bad.....nowhere near AFL standard.

He's arguably our best performing small forward.
I'd like to think our LM team is a bit more level headed than to put a line through him for a misskick..

Owies has kicked a lot of important goals for us this year, I wouldn’t be finishing his career based off what happened towards the end of the Adelaide game.

We definitely don’t have the small forward stocks to be getting rid of him, and he contributes and hits the scoreboard more than any of our other small forwards.

Motlop could, but we haven’t seen him this year,

Not many quality players leave to go to a bottom team.
Smith will go to Geelong or Collingwood.
Hawks list is in poor shape, what would be the attraction to go there ?

Still some decent cheaper role players available FA or OOC

Keays ( wanted him before getting to the Crows), Berry, Prior, Banfield (Can't believe we took O'Shea), Perryman (likely to be at the Eagles), Miller, Cumberland, Melican, Fox

And if the Dogs are pushing players out, I'd ask about Dale or Williams

Yeh I think there would be quite a few leaving the dogs at years end.

Cumberland interests me.

has pace and plays taller than his 6ft even

strikes me as a good contested player
Pretty well known amongst fans, and some in the recruiting space, that his work ethic and attitude is what has kept him on the outer at Richmond.

Clearly has talent, but is unwilling to work as a part of a forward unit. Hes everything most Carlton fans have said we don’t want

Names I'd be asking the question of come end of season to try to improve our deficiencies.

Pie in the sky... Have to reshape our entire list and probably trade players to fit them types:
Hugh Mccluggage (Mid)
Shai Bolton (Fwd/Mid)
Zac Bailey (Mid/Fwd)

Realistic Free agent acquisitions:
Tyson Stengle (Small Fwd)
Will Hayward (Medium Fwd)
Ben Ainsworth (Fwd/Mid)
Cam Zurhaar (Medium Fwd)
Liam Baker (Utility)
Blake Hardwick (Small Fwd)

Realistic known quality trade targets
Bailey Dale (HBF/HFF)
Paul Curtis (Small Fwd)
Max Holmes (Mid/HBF)
Nick Vlaustin (HPF)
Charlie Comben (KPD)
Jack Payne (KPD)
Josh Worrell (KPD)
Cooper Sharman (KPF/Utility)
Dylan Williams (Medium Fwd/HBF)
Sam Wicks (Small Fwd)

Unproven talents with huge upside imo.
James Leake (Medium Fwd/HBF)
Darcy Jones (Small Fwd)
Brayden George (Medium Fwd)
Joe Richards (Small Fwd)
Charlie Clarke (Small Fwd)
Jacob Konstanty (Small Fwd)

Thanks for that.

Always the way. The little bits I’ve seen of him I quite liked but there’s always an underlying problem

The Hawks will have a lot of $$$ to offer more than the others and will actually have the currency to get a deal done, Colingwood for example dont have a first round pick.

Just my thoughts, i dont see him staying at the Dogs.
