So they should. Found some continuity with their bodies and played meaningful roles for us in the 2nd half of the season despite next to no pre seasons.

Remember Jamie Elliot missed almost two years of footy. As did a guy called Charlie Curnow.

Acknowledge Cunners & Marchy aren’t exactly untouchables but when fit and at their best they’re in our best 22.
I don't think they are in our best 22. We need to move past them to make the next step

Get a full season out of Jack Martin, and he's easily a 30 - 40 goal half forward. I think he is 17 goals from 11 games this season

I would not be relying on Martin, Cuningham or Marchbank to play full seasons. And I would add McGovern to that group although he has gotten better.

I consider them bonuses and list management decisions should be made with their history in mind.

I agree. Having a fit list is vital these days. You just can't carry too many injury prone players

This is a forum for discussion - why do you feel the need to attack anyone with a different opinion to yours?

Everyone is aware Watson is highly unlikely to slide to our current pick but this is a list management thread and everyone should be able to discuss options regardless of whether you consider them realistic.

Pretty sure he noted his opinion on the matter, if that's attacking, we may as well shut the whole site down. ultimately: opinions, arseholes...

I know people are excited about Watson but I really like Harry DeMattia for us, especially if we can't get up the order. Mid/fwd will speed and good skills. Bit of X factor

The other later option (Top 30) is Jack Delean who is a natural goalkicker
I liked Watson as a bottom ager last year. He’s got plenty to offer. Will go Top 10 I think.

Have seen De Mattia play in person. Gets a bit of the ball but his disposal efficiency numbers by foot would be abysmal. He’s not that quick either. Gets caught often. Don’t rate.

Caleb Windsor goes alright. Winger but very composed. Natural footballer.

I think SC was a genuine concern last year. All I know is that Cook was not happy with our List profile. Felt it will take 2-3 years to get it right. One of his major focusses has been to work with Austin & Lloyd to get it under control.

So many players have re signed on very basic money and there won't be the BIG contracts anymore
Agree 2 to 3 years is about right it began last year with Stocker and Setters although difficult delisting decisions it had to begin somewhere , this year it’s Dow , LOB, Fisher all difficult decision. Cook is a great manger, operates intelligently , has realigned our SC beautifully , we’re in good hands.
Austin should be fine too, as long as he’s allowed scope to bring in the occasional Doggie connection.

Martin, Cuningham, Marchbank & McGovern will be scrutinized carefully next year‘s list review and may be part of the overhaul, it needs to be activated gradually it would have taken 3 years to fine our playing group.
Past recruiting has been unimpressive at times.

I don’t know how true but there are a few at the club that believe Bailey Smith wants out of the Bulldogs and we are certainly asking questions if not more

Easier said than done. It makes a HUGE difference when you go deep into finals to show our players that the club is worth fighting for. I think we put this to bed this year; Last year- not sp much

Interesting. I am the other way :thumbsu:

Duursma looks as good as anyone in the draft to me. I have him next to Reid

Players like Watson worry me. He looks awesome at Under 18 but to often those 170cm type players struggle to step up. Higgins, Ainsworth come to mind. The stand out is Daniel so only time will tell
Duursma will be a very good midfielder if the X-factor forward role doesn't pan out.

Smith and Hollands this off season would be something special.

I would think maybe a name like Kennedy might get the tap on the shoulder to look elsewhere if a player like Smith was obtainable.

Why do we want Caddy? Don't see the need for a tall forward tbh. We're at the point where we need to be drafting for need, not best available. Someone sell me on it since I've seen multiple people stating their desire for him now.
Don't see him as a key forward, more of a 3rd tall/power half forward. He's Curnow sized and can run.

Looking for a Jack Martin replacement who can also do the de goey/Martin/petracca stuff.

I would love him on a wing, or on the HFF. He played HFF a lot during the 2021 finals run and was absolutely elite.

Bring him to me soap!! Absolutely we need to be front and centre even if this was minutely a chance imo

I guess I am answering my own discussion. But I remember when Liddle was getting slammed around here for getting involved in list management. Yet, posters seem pretty happy that Cook is involved in the same. I imagine it comes down to a successful track record versus a newbie in the role.

From memory people were annoyed when Liddle went behind SOS's back to meddle with list management. Cook appears to be working with Austin and co. to form a plan with everyone on the same page.

That as well as Cook having a much better track record, of course.

Also played his best football on the wing not as a forward, has kick 13 career goals and seems to struggle to kick 30+ metres.

Not sure where the obsession with him as a small forward is, other than being first nations.

Yeah agreed he really struggled as a small forward so I wouldn’t be looking at him for that role and his output only increased when he was playing pretty unaccountable footy on the wing. I’m not sure he would been able to handle a finals intensity game
in any position.

I want him as a mid

I reckon he would really struggle in the middle as he lacks physicality. I’d rather give Ollie Hollands a go in there or throw in Williams or Saad.
