When is morris contracted until?

I'm hoping that if he isn't signed its because he wants to wait to improve his negotiating position, not because he is looking to leverage by going to a different club

Yeah, why would Logan sign a deal now when if he takes another step next year his value will skyrocket.

You could, but good key forwards are much rarer than a promising young mid. If Logan has a strong 2025, he could get a very nice long term deal. If he has an average/injured year, he'd probably not stop in much value (if any) given what he's already shown he is capable of. If I were in his shoes I'd absolutely be doing the same thing.

Our huge list of players out of contract in 12 months is big with many that we need signed up yesterday:

Must re-signs - Lohmann, Ah Chee, Morris, Rayner and Starcevich

Likely retirements - Zorko, Lester and McKenna

Retire or one more year: McCarthy, Gardiner, Fort and Joyce

Make or break seasons for: Robertson, Lloyd, Zakostelsky, Tunstill, Torrent and rookies McLachlan, Beecken and Craven

Time for DD and Dom Ambrogio to get to work on that top list.

think its easy to forget that most would have considered zorko lucky to play 15 games this year. has had a fair injury history over the last 4-5 years.

its a minor miracle he played a full season and a recurrence of the heel / calf issues that have previously seen him hobbling or missing games could see him decide to pull the pin

I think there's a realistic chance he could kick 40 and do just that tbh. Would be worth the gamble if you're his manager and in Logan's shoes.

According to this we're already in talks so extension news might come along soon.

Speaking on AFL.com.au's trade and draft show Gettable last week, Morris' manager Tim Hazell from Vivid Sports said negotiations with Lions list boss Dom Ambrogio were now underway.

"Outside of the top 20, it's an activation for a third (year in a draftee's contract). There's no negotiating, it's just what the top 20 get and it gets passed on to those players," Hazell said.

"We're having some conversations with Dom about potentially activating the third year and then looking at a fourth. We'll keep that conversation going over the next couple of weeks.

True but he didn't start playing at AFL level until he was what 23?

I love Logan but with our forward line he's been more icing than cake. He's just one injury away from being the third tall in one of the most damaging forward lines ever. He should bank his future on staying put till he hits free agency.

He'd need to grow about 11 inches if he's going to be Forty.

It's less about him leaving and more about him getting the best possible contact at Brisbane.

I also like that Morris seems to have a bit of mongrel in him. He doesn't might getting into a scuffle and having a bit to say, 10kg or so on his frame he could be throwing a few around. Not quite a Jonathon Brown but he looks like he could carry some weight and use it. (thats say in comparison to Hippy who is a bean stalk with other skills)

Reckon if Day does come in from the DFA, Morris will probably be relegated to the bench initially with our current forward setup for the start of 2025:

HF: Rayner / Hipwood / Bailey
F: Cameron / Day / Lohmann
INT: Morris

Some will say that Bailey should be on the bench instead with Lohmann becoming a half-forward and Morris playing as the 3rd tall but one average season by Zac shouldn't be discounted from losing his spot IMO especially as he was playing injured and sore with that ankle injury it looked like for the most of the year but did look better as the year went on.

Another factor is that Bailey usually plays minutes in the midfield compared to Lohmann so even though Kai might have done better in the goals tally, it'll be interesting to see who had more impact around the ground during games.

This is probably more 2025 list management but who do we lose next year - Zorko retires, Dev and Tunstill most likely gone. Gardiner and McCarthy are a little unknown I hope they both come back strong but could both be forced to hang them up earlier than anyone would like with their injuries.

I seriously wonder if TDK and SDK are an option. TDK takes that Daniher role with more ruck capacity and SDK was so good in 2022, he is a bit down now but could be a tremendous long term KPD / backup Ruck with our staff reinvigorating and having confidence in him. Would take $$$ for TDK and some capital to get SDK even though out of contract but would sure up the Key position stocks long term.

Probably overreaching with our current priority resignings but we can dream right

Pick 31 too; snubbed by just about every other club who’d all be falling over themselves to get him to their club.

Got to remember that Bombers also traded up to get Caddy at pick 9 or 10 who could be just as good but Logan was a bargain.

Shrewd recruiting.

Morris had a better U18 year than Caddy, not by a wide margin, but better.

Caddy had significantly better biometrics and athletic testing, but Morris is a smarter footballer.

Amazing how well he reads the play and maintains composure in traffic for a forward so young. He's got Stevie J footy smarts I reckon.

I think Lohmann has more of the charteristics of Stevie j I'd say Morris is more that Bradshaw type forward great marking very accurate kick at goal

I think we'd match any bid on TDK to force a trade.
