Any chance of Liam Ryan or Tim Membrey getting to Carlton?

Ryan is 27 and an electric player. The most I’d give up is a future 2nd rounder for him.

Membrey no more than 4th rounder. He could be a solid medium fwd.
Would make me sick to pick up either

Membrey would kick 6 in an intra club & do nothing when named.
Only ever plays well against us 😂
Not the type we are after

More chance Jake Riccardi gets to Carlton imo than those 2…

Thinking about the draft.

Currently the Academy or F/S players who you would expect to attract a bid in the first 30 or so based on Rookie Me's rankings

2. Levi Ashcroft (BL)
11. Leonardo Lombard (GC)
13. Isaac Kako (Ess)
24. Sam Marshall (BL)

If the bids came at those picks on current draft positions they would pay:

Ashcroft = Pick 17, Pick 55, Pick 69 and a 550 point deficit in 2025 First Round

Lombard = Pick 12, getting Pick 56 back

Kako = Pick 28 and a 292 point deficit in 2025 first round

Marshall is moot, Lions can't even cover Ashcroft with current hand

Lions and Essendon will be wanting to trade around to get more points. Gold Coast to get better value for pick 12 given the chance that Lombard gets bid on early.

That's exactly my thoughts. It's why I would've been happy to trade Durdin and Motlop so we can draft Berry and Hannaford (we might need to find a way to upgrade our second pick to get Hannaford with his recent form). Along with the development of Moir and a full season from Williams up front, it would transform our forward line.

I know our defensive numbers were poor, particularly defending stoppages, but I feel like that's more of a coordination issue than a personnel issue. Good coaching over the off season should improve that. If we get more reward for effort from our inside 50s, we can apply more scoreboard pressure which should be enough to lift us into a top 4 finish.
I don't think Durdin is tradable and Motlop is just a maybe.

We are garbage at stopping the opposition coming out of stoppages all around the ground. It happens a lot in the midfield and forward line. It looks bad when it happens in the backline.

Our recruitment of midfielders and how we have built our midfield is garbage. Too slow, can't chase and hence we can not defend nor can we move the ball aggressively when it's our turn.

Scoreboard pressure and an even effort up forward would be nice. We need some serious talent to come into our forward 50.

It was a sliding doors moment for un failing to land Papley and Martin not being able to stay on the field. That would have changed everything for us.

Right who wouldn't want to play for Patrick Cripps? Now interviewing for one best 22 front and centre goal sneak, one best 22 mobile full back with composure, and one gazelle like zippy goal kicking best 22 mid. Applicants need apply via Nick Austin.

Our second and Owies or Kennedy pick for Lions Pick 17

Not sure if either of them would have given us much in return if traded.

We could still potentially get both Berry and Hannaford with our 1st round pick (Berry) and packaging up the pick we get for Owies (Hannaford). Owies' value seems to be gaining traction when you read the level of interest he appears to be getting from rival clubs. And at the end of the day, you have to give up something of you want to get something.

Personally, I can't see us going for both Berry and Hannaford, but we do need to find avenues to improve our draft/trade hand.
I’d be doing exactly this (these types, you can change the names if you like) drafting comes with about a 50% strike rate at best in those type of picks range. We need several and there’s not much on our list coming through so double down and address the problem. They are becoming more and more important every season.

Eye on the re-contracting, delisting or put on trade table of Konstanty & O.Hotton - do we have interest and are they AFL quality players..?
not sure on Hotton, don't know enough although a quick search suggested mid-fwd with some pace? Has he been injured for a lot of his time at st kilda?

Would take a look at Konstanty, supposedly a small fwd with a lot of pressure and I guess has spent a couple of years (hopefully) learning from Papley & co.

Injuries for O.Hotton, think he’s missed the majority of his 2 years in the system.

Something like:

Port

Out: Houston

In: Lukosious, Pick 31

GC

Out: Lukosious

In: Carlton Future 1st

Carlton

Out: Carlton Future 1st, Pick 31

In: Houston

Feels off, but it's ball park

Wilson Weitering Saad
Newman ???? Houston
Acres Cripps Doch/Ollie
Fogarty Curnow Berry
Williams Mckay Moir
Dekoning Walsh Cerra

Cowan McGovern Hewett E.Hollands

Would like the speed and skill of this team next year if all came together with development, trades etc.

Would still like another quality half forward flank brought in but can't imagine we'll be able to do that and secure a decent 2nd KPD option to accompany Haynes(depth)

With Marchbank & Akuei gone
S.Durdin likely to join them
And Young being shopped
I just can’t imagine Austin leaving us open to the veteran Haynes as the only support to Weitering.

What is he up to !! 🤔🤔🤔
Hoping one of

Butts, SDK, Kolodjasjni, Aleer, J.Williams, T.Young, Miller or May.

No way we go into 2025 with Weitering, Haynes and Lemmey as our only KPD options.
