He suits our current kicking efficiency
He has been no where near the player he was once he left the Giants, was a very damaging player amongst the extremely skilled & talented depth of midfielders and flankers that came through together, who could carve up sides on any particular day once they starteded to mature and emerged into a serious teamā¦
Hindsight shows as talented as he was with some wonderful traits, clever positioning as well as speed and burst through congestion, he was capable of bursting out and setting up forward runs or chains, his kicking though wasnāt his strongest abilityā¦
Injuries along the way as his career progressed seem to have impacted his strengths as a speed runner, decision making also has also seemed to deteriorate over time alsoā¦
Feels like a case of Stockholm syndrome, we've been abused by injured players so we need Shiel to keep the abuse now we've dumped Cunningham, Martin and Marchbank.

I refuse not to have a consistently injured key defender on the long term injury list, rushed back for a game only to get injured by half time and miss 8 weeks when the initial prognosis was 2 weeks...

both incorrect. His kicking was safe as it should be for an inside mid. His pace was the Dylan of old.
A few Essendon supporters even suggesting they'd start him in the 22
