Is Alex Keath a better option than Lewis Young?

Patrick Voss looks a likely type?

(no relation I gather....)

So as it sits we have 3 Senior list spots and no rookie spots…

Senior: 33 (3 Available Spots)
Draft

Pick 11
Ben Camporeale
Boyd

DFA
Haynes

Trade
Houston

Rookie: 5 (1 Available Spots)
Draft

Lucas Camporeale

If we’re going to take Haynes & Houston we need to trade or delist another 2 Senior list.

Those Mentioned:
Kennedy (Contracted)
Owies
Young (Contracted)
Carroll

Don’t see us being as active as some say or most want in trade week. We just don’t have the list spots…

Ok, to clarify my points further: Wicks is another pressure forward that doesn't score much, and doesn't look like he would with a shift in role. Not really interested unless he's DFA, and we've sent Owies out the door and have a plan for Motlop to play a lot more midfield.

Still far more interested in drafting Hotton.

1 cat B slot is also open, but it will be taken by Duffy.

There's DFA periods after the free agency and trade periods, as well as after the draft. Plenty of time to discard additional out of contact players.

Loved Phoenix Foster in his draft year. Key forward who played more ruck at the U18 Champs. Also scope to play back. So key utility/pinch hitting ruck.

Geelong are quite a unique club managing their list. Plenty of seemingly AFL quality players have been moved on. Foster has had decent, but not rave reviews, but is a very young tall. Did miss some time with injuries, so not sure if they have impacted.

With Shannon Neale forward, Toby Conway and Mitch Edwards developing rucks and Connor O’Sullivan a likely defensive or utility tall star to add to SDK as another key/ruck utility as well as freakish J.Cameron, Blicavs, Kolodjashnij, the Henry boys at either end and Tom Stewart third tall type, they are well served for talls mature and developing.

Due diligence would be sensible on Foster if he can be taken, particularly as a rookie (won’t be surprised if Cats are planning to re-rookie him on the quiet)

We would be worse off, by far.

When people say we will be worse by far, in what area? Goals per game? Kennedy averages 0.2 more goals per game, tackles? Kennedy averages about 2 less per game, possessions per game? Both average 17.

I dont mind Kennedy but to put him up there as being miles better than Parfit is a stretch.

If Kennedy were to leave, we would get a pick 25-35 imo, you can then add Parfit for free,

I suppose we’d need to be comparing his development to that of Lemmey?

Did Mitch Hardie have solid VFL form?

Hardie solid, even prolific. Earned AFL selection many times over on face value. 27yo yet to debut. Clearly backing in those getting it done this year as well as trading B.Smith and more development from J.Clark and G.Stevens

if true, I'd suggest already a done deal with someone else.

Cats? Dogs?

Was from the Jets?
Butters was a Dogs fan growing up but if he is to request a trade to VIC I doubt it’s a done deal anywhere at this early stage. He may have just put his feelers out at this early stage.

Would definitely cost 2 x 1sts, (7 - 13) imo or a top 6 pick and an early 2nd

I really hope we learn from our past mistakes and don't bring in Houston.

If you look at what succesful clubs (Geelong Sydney, Hawthorn, Richmond in their prime) do, they pay heavily for superstars in key positons and midfield only (Dangerfield, Cameron, Franklin, Mitchell/O'Meara, Lynch... and even Taranto/Hopper). If they have gaps in other spots they tend to either trade cheaply, develop their own, or plan around the gap.

Our rebuild has been characterised by panicking and paying high prices for role players: Williams and Martin, Saad, McGovern.

Remember, the benefit of Houston isn't his full skillset. It is the upgrade he provides over what we have at halfback (Cowan or Docherty?) or coulf find cheaply elsewhere. This simply isn't a difference thst will make or break our tean.

And the cost isn't just the trade price, but also includes the salary cap space we won't have in 12 months or 2 years or even now, the development Cowan or whoever loses, etc.

Our recruitment team shoukd be forced to wear wristbands thay say WWSD (what would Sydney do?). Clearing out the paltry remains of our depth and two years worth of draft capital to bring in a 27yo half back flank simply isn't it...

HTAF is Sam Durdin still on the list. I mean, I 100% agree that we lack KPD depth but he can barely get on the park.

And supposedly, we've offered Owies a contract and happy for Kennedy and Young to stay.

Sounds like bullshit to me, a few more have to go in order to improve the list.
