Charlie McCartin could be in our sights according to media reports and recommended by Ed Curnow.

Apparently has been since June at least. ..Along with Swans, & Cats

Dunno. Prob a 3rd tall type in defence.
That is surely where he starts. No matter what traits the Irish boys have offensively or athletically, they have always done better starting their time behind the ball. We would be mad not to. The couple of months he has spent around the team is season, hopefully has given him a head start watching some vision and having some clues how to transfer his talents to our game.

Duffy looked taller than his previously listed 194cm in some recent shots (standing beside rucks), so may have grown to the range of being a key position option. It is yet to be seen what his in game traits may be. Touted as having athleticism to go through the midfield, it will be “fun” seeing how and how quickly he develops.

Yep. GWS, Hawks, Brisbane etc don't have the most explosive of fast midfields going around but are stacked with speed off half back and half forward.

Imo if we get more from/get better flankers our speed issues around the ball would largely be nullified.

Gws does it brilliantly with Daniels, Jones and Bedford pushing up around the ball to help out Green, Cogs and Peatling/Kelly/Ward.

We really only have Fog who does that for us well.
Forward half:
Lions - Cameron, Bailey, Rayner, Ah-Chee, Lohmann
GWS - Bedford, Daniels, Jones,Greene
Cats - Miers, Stengle, Close
Hawks - Moore, Ginnivan, Watson

Our lineup forward of centre is demonstratively weaker in the personnel ranks when you look at the options other than talls.

Plenty of players fill in for VFL teams during injury troubles particularly when interstate teams are on the road. They ask Ok who is available?
There has been plenty of talk re: Charlie McCartin > potential smokey AFL draftee throughout the season. SYD got to have a closer look at a higher grade, and other clubs viewed from afar.

You could line it up against several sides o who didn’t make finals and it would rank below them.

This has been the case for a very long time yet still, through 2 different list manager, we have failed to address it.

You’ve seen him play ?
If Ed is recommending him I reckon we go with that !
Yes I have seen him play ! When did Ed recommend him ? Remind me please .
He plays for Lorne would not get a game in the majority of GFL teams.

Maybe highlight what Ed said because I can’t see it !

Ed supposedly was pushing out alerts to have a look earlier in the year.

This was a further write-up c/- The Age “St Kilda, where former Swans recruiter Simon Dalrymple is now head recruiter, have been closely tracking him this season, too, while recruiting sources said Carlton and Geelong were among the AFL clubs to have also scouted the key defender.

Two recruiting sources – who spoke on condition of anonymity given list decisions for next year have not been made – said the 194-centimetre athletic defender had similar traits to his younger brother in that he is very good overhead and a beautiful kick, albeit he is playing at a drastically different level of competition.”

Exactly a media beat up . No quotes from anyone. Sources said !!

Tom Stewart got drafted from country footy.

He played for South Barwon on Geelong FL which is arguably the strongest country league in the State (at least Top 2).

Charlie's playing for Lorne which is probably the 4th rated league in the Geelong/Surfcoast region - for example, a few of the Lorne players are players from Torquay who can't get a game.
