Probably a silly call but could or would we ever consider trying to bring Dusty Martin across for 2 years as a Forward?

No. The guy is 33 years old and a shadow of his former self. He wouldn't want the fishbowl attention in Perth either. I reckon he's going to retire or might look to Sydney or Gold Coast for a retirement package.

If you could pull it off, the cost to output ratio would be a big consideration. Not sure Martin would consider moving over here for anything remotely reasonable.
Yeah I thought it would be massive getting a Dusty type over. Imagine if you could rotate him on ball 30 percent of the time with Fyfe also

Yeah I didnt think there was a chance really. Still say he is comfortably better than atleast 3 of our forwards though if played there permanently

Agree to disagree on this. I think Banfield is having a fantastic season and key to this has been his greater level of versatility than Zurhaar. Banners has played all over the ground, be it wing, half back etc. I see Zurhaar as a one trick pony.
He's not a one trick pony. He plays forward and in the midfield rotations. He doesn't really play wing as his strength lies in his contested game and competitiveness. Banners played back for all of a quarter which I'm sure Zurhaar could do if two key backs went down.

Banners is playing well for his level but he's a mature player and still prone to having brain fades and costing us in big games. The Port game an example with 2 out on the full in the last quarter. Guys like this need to either keen improving or you upgrade them if you want to go all the way.

The 2013 GF is a good example, we had too many who got overawed on the day and couldn't execute. Don't expect much from players who do this in the regular season occasionally that they will eliminate it in a big final or the GF.

and he has come out saying he is sick of not playing finals - we need that hunger

ps: nobody sticks Bailey in the corner ;)

You reckon Zurhaar’s never produced a couple of brain fades that are disastrous to winning a game of late? You might rate Zurhaar’s ceiling much higher, but his output production rates aren’t that great.

I didn't say that he won't make mistakes too but think he will be an upgrade on Banners. The most goals Banners has ever kicked in a season is 18 and averages around 15 a year when playing forward. 53 from 85 career games.

Zurhaar has kicked 145 from 108 career games and has more average disposals.

They are basically the same age and same size.

I just can't see how anybody can not see him as an direct upgrade but obviously if the contract price was right.

Twomey on gettable

Heard that - what year would that have been? Seemed to come out of nowhere
He extended a contract in 2022, so that's probably the most likely time he considered a move, but it would have been impossible to get him and Jackson.

2021 we lost Cerra and had the right assets to get him, but we probably miss out on Amiss.

was he worth a first rounder back then?

He signed his first extension at the start of 2021 after only playing 2 games in his first year. He played pretty well in 2021 but probably wasn't worth a first round pick, but with 2 years still left on his contract Sydney would have demanded a first.

2022 was his breakout year and he still had a year to go on his contract and easily been worth a first round pick.

Also, Cal has been big the last few weeks on Sydney NEEDING to extend Warner this year.
Brayshaw is in the same position and crickets.

Is this just that we don't exist, or has the smoke started to get a bit stronger?

Brayshaw has said publicly, recently, that he can't wait to sign, so it doesn't leave as much a doubt as to what will happen.
