They would be Trying to get him to re-sign don't think they'd be worried about his trade value
'trying' goes without saying however there is still opportunity there especially if they win the GF. His trade value is higher while in contract.

Swans aren't after draft picks they are after flags. even if they win, they'll try to go again

they'll get 2 first for him next year again

Saying you wouldn't do a first for Baker even if we get a second back is pretty dumb.

Look at the ladder - we're top four and Richmond is last. If it stays that way I wouldn't hesitate at all. He's a good player.

Seriously getting Baker for that downgrade is almost so much in our favour it's approaching the level of the Weller trade and/or Schultz trade.

If you have pick 7, 10 and 16, do you reach for Berry at 10 and use 16 to get Baker?

Then go best line breaking mid with elite skills at 7.

And hopefully use pick 25 for another small forward.

Get Isiah Winder as a DFA, and Isaac Cummings a UFA.

This is the dream.
That's 3 draft picks and 3 new players. Who are you delisting to fit them all in?

Tabs, Hughes, and Corbett seem likely. Sturt Banfield, and Wagner are out of contract but in the team so likely to receive a contract offer. Emmett, NOD, and Knoble are out of contract but have shown something to persist with.
Keuk, Reidy, Jones, Voss, and Stanley are rookies so delisting them won't free up space for the draft, although they could free up space to move a contracted player like McDonald to the rookie list.

wasnt there some talk somewhere about Switta potentially wanting to get back to Vic?

Switta for Baker, or 3 way involving the pick to whatever Switta goes

I hope it isn't true because unlike many on here, i wouldn't want to swap Switta for Baker
For their role, I probably agree now. Switta is a specialist in his position. Baker better all around but directly putting Baker into his role doesn't improve us. I might have to duck for cover but I assume they plan on plonking him in Banners role if it goes ahead...

The trade in my head is 15 and 25 for Baker and 21. If we could swindle the first pick of the second round out of them it would be massive. I think that is going to have some unbelievable value this year.

Good question. If we brought in 6, we would cut some people who shouldn't be cut.

In reality, we may trade one of the picks for a future pick and then we only need to cut 5, plus get the fun of the death ride next year.

1. Cummings is obviously an unknown if he will come, but if he is available and fits in the cap then he would be an upgrade on a number of players below. If you brought him in, and delisted one of NOD, Emmett, Stanley, then I think that is a win.

2. I have Isiah Winder as an upgrade on Emmett and Stanley, so if he wanted to come then you delist the worst of them.

Maybe something like this, but I don't follow the WAFL guys that closely.

Keep
Sam Sturt
Corey Wagner
Bailey Banfield
Patrick Voss
Max Knobel
Sebit Kuek
Nathan O'Driscoll

Delist
Ethan Hughes
Matt Taberner
Josh Corbett - don't think he counts, as Voss has taken his spot. Could be wrong.
Liam Reidy
Ethan Stanley - If Winder and Cummings comes
Tom Emmett - If Winder and Cummings comes

Rookie - Here are some options of players who could be moved
Walters - simple tap him on the shoulder, it won't impact your role next year but we need to make room on main list.
Brodie - I don't see him playing next year. Would happily trade him for nothing.
Kuek
NOD

Others

Conrad Williams - Cat B only
Odin Jones - Not sure

Ryno said he would be shocked if we use more than 1 first round pick in the draft. We have plans on our picks.
FYI - he covered it in the first 5 minutes.

On a side note, I know the banter isnt everyone's cup of tea but the guys have had me cackling out loud of late. Last week's pod with Rhino back from his Bali trip had me in stitches.

I'm warming more and more to using our picks at the draft tbh

(I've basically given up on Bolton and Warner this year)

Hope we don't only use 1, this draft is looking juicy

Even Kinnear said today that we will look back at this draft in a few years time and go "how did he slide to the rookie draft"

I trust walls as much as I trust the Sydney recruiting team, reckon he makes our picks count

Gives even more reason to cash out on players like Erasmus and Brodie (Erasmus while still valued and Brodie for list space)

Erasmus was brought up on gettable but no actual info on him just a question.

Raz also brought up on the Hard Ball Gets show linked above, and Daniels said basically the same thing Bevo said about the year to run except with the impression he wasn't totally guessing ("I think he's playing the long game").

Would be surprised if we traded Raz: his value's fairly low right now, but much like many this season, his prospects could transform with a monster off-season. Would rather us stick with, risk potentially missing out on cutting out losses for the upside of what he can become. Brodie's probably the one where you can't see him changing his stripes, and if we don't like the player he is now you might as well find someone who does.

Cal saying we’re one of four clubs interested in Cumming from GWS - but more likely to either stay or head to SA
Yeah I heard that, I didn’t really know we interested in a defender like that, unless we move Chapman on the wing on then Cummings takes his place in the backline

What were your takeaways from him talking about Warner?

Pretty sure in the past Beatson has been pretty decisive in knocking trade stuff on the head with players who were staying. This time….

Think he stays this year, but sounded like (maybe biased) confirmation that he won’t extend.

On the Hard Ball Gets pod, someone asked about players who might leave us and the questioner mentioned Ras. Ryno mentioned he is in contract and “is playing the long ga….” he was then interrupted by boof head X.
I’m guessing he was going to saying Ras can see positions opening up in time ( Fyfe, O’Meara??)🤷‍♂️

* Sorry after posted this saw this was mentioned by caseysibbosdo.

That is what I believe will happen Ras will stay with and then be a replacement for Fyfe or Omera

I did find it interesting that he brought up they won't be chasing anybody due to tying up deals for their ooc players but then added the caveat of unless something changes/pops up (not exact words)

To me that's only talking about Warner

As for the other Warner stuff, he said talks are halted for this year which makes sense. I didn't really read much into that tbh

He also brought up that the group have been taking unders to stick around, would be similar to us imo, means our offer to Chad will likely be more than theirs?

Don't know much about Isaac Cumming so just googled him. First thing I saw was 'A GIANTS Academy product from Broken Hill'. This alone is enough to convince me he aint ever moving to Perth.

There was a quote re Sydney signing all their uncontracted players this year that I gleefully interpreted as our TPP is cooked and if Warner stays he will need to take a massive haircut

Not sure Port or Adelaide have a great list. The role we can offer is better than GWS, who have Whitfield and co playing in his preferred role.

If he wants success, and to play half back then it is an easy choice.
