Not sure a player out of contract (apparently) still yet to sign at round 24 is nothing to see here. You are right and a deal might have been done, seems odd that they wouldn't then just announce it. The club should be pushing any good news story out.

You would think so but...

Wagner
Reidy
Banfield (close if not already)
Voss

Have all reportedly signed with nothing from the club. Draper was announced by media about 2 weeks before the club confirmed it.

Could well be done, in the process of being lodged etc. It is odd though that no news has leaked like the others though

Love the club but they do some absolutely stupoid things to do with fan engagement. The injury reporting is a joke and what benefit do they get from not announcing contract extensions? It's weird.

Absolutely.
My guess is that it comes out in the media a bit early once agreed in principle - then delay is lodging paperwork, filming interview and graphics etc.

But still feel some are just randomly delayed and injury is just another matter..

3 years for Banfield?
FMD

His first 2/3rds of the season are worthy of an extension. Without the second year, he doesn’t sign at all. I’m also of the opinion that all player contracts should have triggered years if the player is up for it. The reality is that BB is in our best 25 atm. I’d rather keep that player than not

Oh the melts on here…
"How dare Fremantle re-sign a player that's played every game this year and had good form for the majority of the year, he had a bad month towards the end of the year!! Trade him!!!"

2 years for Banfield is completely okay, the melts are/will be glorious.

Two with a trigger is just two. Plenty of players like Matera, Conca had triggers and spent the last year of their contract not being picked so didn't trigger.

But if Banfield is a best twenty two player in two years time then he will be there for a third year. Hopefully we have players overtake him or he plays amazingly well.

Looks like Baker's preferred club is West Coast, he barracked for them as a kid ,Schofield was his WAFL coach, He knows their list manager really well, initially recruited him to Richmond. If we want him we'll need to offer way better then the eagles.

Or we let then take him.

It would be a money over success decision.
WC like us had every chance to get him before Richmond took a punt.
Buy in or take the dollars.
