I'd accept that, do your research and roll the dice.

We'd be paying slightly less than if we tried to lure them when they are "proven" and wed actually stand a chance of getting them.

Instead we'll continually miss out and have the mediocre list we have now.

I don’t think we have near enough resiliency even consider it

Our list build can’t afford mistakes because of all the mistakes already baked in

So was it really us that tabled 10 years for Gulden?

Bold if it was, would have added some flavour to our vanilla midfield. Looks like we'll have to use Option B now, Rankine and Rachelle into the CB eh Nicks? ..... Nicks? ..... Nicks? ........ crickets

I've never seen a bigger case if group think and confirmation bias than in our administration.

This has to start at the board level.

There needs to be more scrutiny in its members.

They’ll just blame the players like Nicks and the coaches have.

Listened to Bryce Gibbs last night sums up the mentality of these experts and that includes Blight who is going very soft.

“Early in the game the plauers are afraid to make a mistake, but when they’ve been down at 3/4 time and the coach tells them we are 5 goals down, take the game on
, go for the win and then you take chances, you play with freedom and aren’t afraid to make mistakes” Blighty nods in agreeance.

The issue I have with this is it’s the coaches from the get go who with their s**t defensive gameplan are the reason the players aren’t taking the game on from the start. If the coaches are instructing them to and they aren’t listening well they’ve stopped listening to the coaches which again is a problem with the coaches. The coach then needs to send a big message via selection not rotate Sholl and Berry.

But we know it’s the former as it’s the way we played first preseason game and it’s clearly been the way we’ve trained.

As it’s so obvious it’s a coaching issue, how the * aren’t the coaches being blasted? Is it because Nicks is a nice guy?
I had to read this 5 times, very wordy and my brain felt like I was on an acid trip...
Just having some fun George... I agree with you it's a coaching and development issue and yes Nicks is too nice, not ruthless enough for the big leagues

It would be very disappointing to myself and many many of posters if you and Jeff Crowe were not providing the insights and your views on prospective draftees just because of a few knobs that are on this site just to stir s--t .
Lead up to draft creates a lot of action on this site and with less input by yourself and Jeff ,many posters like myself and many others are too lazy or not got knowledge or facilities to gain the informed opinions and feedback you guys do.
Posters like you ,Jeff and Big Man are valued .
Don't let the snipers beat you.

Thoughts on Caleb Daniel? on the outer at WB . Yes ok he’s not what we are screaming for or will he fix our issues but he brings a wealth of experience to our young backline . He’s still only 27 . For the right price surely we ask the question ?

A 10 year deal no doubt on big coin and he still knocked it back..deary me. Are we like the 4.00am at the club when the lights go on...no amount of money is going to tempt
How do you convince the partner of a Sydney player to uproot her life and move from Sydney to Adelaide?

Good on us for throwing some tempting numbers around - we're going to need to.

No thanks. Not a need. Barely an upgrade on Parnell.

He turns 28 this year, so he's too old for our list profile

Too tall for us.

On a tangent but how must Rachele etc be feeling knowing the club were looking externally for a midfielder

Granted Guilden is tracking well and yay for Adelaide ( if true) for having a crack but when Nicks has the team meeting and says ' yeah guys it was us we felt we needed to inject some class '' imagine how you would feel

Taking a look at our list we have started to get games into alot of the young ones now. I didnt realise how young the list still is. Only 12 players over 24 years old

A lot of our young players have played 30-70 games now.

If i say 24 and under we have

Played AFL
Jones only 24 now with 80 games so has been playing since start of his career
Berry is 22 with 42 games
Thilthorpe 21 with 46 Games
Rachele 21 with 38 games
Pedlar 21 with 29 Games
Soligo 21 with 41 Games
Cook 21 with 13 ganes
Michalanney 20 with 26 Games
Hamill 23 with 38 Games
Rankine 23 with 72 Games
Worrell 23 with 21 Games
Mchenry 23 with 63 Games
Schoenberg 23 with 57 Games
Nankervis 20 with 5 Games
Murray 23 with 46 Games
Fogarty 24 with 83 Games
Borlase 21 with 6 Games
Parnell 22 with 17 Games
Sholl 24 with 56 Games
Butts 24 with 63 Games
Gollant 22 with 13 Games
Keane 24 with 13 Games

Not played AFL
Curtin 19 years old with 0
Edwards 18 with 0 games
Taylor 21 with 0 Games
Ryan 18 with 0 games
Dowling 19 with 0 Games
Gallagher 22 with 0 Games
Bond 19 with 0 Games

So we only have 7 players on the list who are yet to play and 30 players on our list out off 42 who are 24 years and under

Rachele is probably thinking, 'see what a young talented guy can do in the midfield when they are afforded opportunity and development'

I think we need to recruit some mature-agers

Smith, Walker, Sloane all going or waning

Laird and Crouch...? Both might be starting to feel the squeeze in the next 12 months if not sooner.

ROB and Keays... steady players only.

We're not going to get any older as a group. There's not a core of 23-27 year olds moving past 100-150 games that we can build around.

We'll add games to the youngsters only as quickly as we lose veterans from the top. Our profile stays the same and we continue to struggle.

Whether that's Daniel I'm not sure but I think we should (and likely are) target some players entering their prime on big dollars via trade and also bolster with some older FA pick ups.

It's the only way we can correct the drafting wasteland of the Gallucci and Co years.

I for one am absolutely shocked that we were duped by Matt Crouch playing well at the back end of a contract year, only to revert to the norm with a safe, cushy new contract.
