Our timing....with the guy's we got during the trade period means we are in the NOW business.

And it's that reason why Tauru is not a good fit for us right now.

I don't discredit the positives & hype surrounding him but realistically a player like him is gonna take 2-3 years or more before he blossoms into the type of player we think he can be. Remember...we'll have Logue back ready to go for Round 1.

Use pick 2 to get what we deem to be the best midfielder in the draft and he'll be able to show his worth straight away being surrounded by talented players near his age bracket.

As for the Future 1st pick......don't trade it.....use it at next year's draft. Ignore the crap about how next year's draft is gonna be a weaker one. That sh!t gets said this time every year until that draft comes along and then all of sudden it's the best draft ever! #rinseandrepeat

Gents, the value of a P2 isn’t a standard price.

It will always be determined by the amount of “buyers” - hence the Suns getting an absolute bag last year for p4.

You have 2 buyers. Richmond or us.

My main issue with any offer is, are you getting a pick that lands you the player you want and that’s apparently Tauru.

6 gets you that.

The other issue is that to create the need you need the talent and this is considered a deep and even draft that is lacking the absolute top type of talent.

It was the same issue with West Coast - and they bent over and took the deal.

I’m not telling you to suck eggs here either. It’s what I believe is happening this year.

Clubs all want the even talent. They don’t necessarily want to trade up.

Unless you want the Essendon offer of a future first and an entire bunch of shit.
Yeah one small problem- we don’t have to trade the ****en pick for unders and can just go to the draft

To be fair, 6+18 is a fair deal.

You get the player you want and you get the extra first rounder in a deep first round.

Trainor doesn’t have a draft night invite.

Usually means if he gets taken it’s 15-25 on the night.

Imagine walking away with Tauru and Trainor.

It you end up with multiple picks in the middle/late of the first round - it’s terrible.

The thing I can’t wrap my head around. A club only slides down for a deal when a targets in mind.

7 gets you Tauru.

Unless they offer you 6. Nothing else does.
Thank you once again for telling this board what a fair deal for pick 2 is, it’s so fair you told us twice. To be fair we have no idea what a fair deal is, we really appreciate your unsolicited advice.

No we have a third option take pick 2, maybe the list spots will be dfas

I agree with the 'now' argument - with the recruiting of the senior players, clearly the brains trust have said next year has to see genuine improvement. But it's also for that reason I think the F1 is tradeable, even at a discount - they will want more picks in this year's top 30 to go with 2, and if need be, then look to trade back into 2025 with futures from 2026

That doesn't make much sense unless the 'brains trust' think that whoever they bring in for our F1 will improve our results next year. In this case, maybe the issue is the 'brains trust'.

Yeah mate as I posted above.

I think you are trading the pick.

I’m just not sure I agree with any hypothetical that lands you a bundle of amazing picks.

Which seems to be the basis of what your fans want. I’ve been in and out of here abit in the last few days - I enjoy the hypothetical chat etc.

But I feel like the mindset of the fanbase probably won’t align with the outcome.
If the aints knew what they were doing(lol),
they would trade 7,8 for 2, f2, and get their #1 rated mid.

I will absolutely lmao if the aints end up with another Clarke/Coffield bust because of 'draft points'

Exactly. The Saints and Essendon have proven how multiple high end picks are not worth one of the very top picks. The only thing I like about old mates trade hypotheticals is the prospect of death riding St Kilda.

I think we’ve clearly made some moves though, whether that’s with our F1 and/or pick 2. Otherwise why did we open up the list spot re Pink etc.

I’m sticking to the theory the list management “brains trust” have a strong sense LDU will be going next year so we will have a first round compo pick for him so trading ours won’t be such a big deal 😬
Luke loves this club, I know its hard to understand in this age of money and loyalty gone mad, there will be no compo pick, there will be no doom & gloom, there will only be Luke signing his last contract with us and he will be well rewarded and rightly so.
