1. Williams - most talent rookie plus 2nd best situation for rookie qb
2. McCarthy - best situation for rookie qb

4. Pennix - has 2 years to sit and learn atleast

5. Daniels - bust doubt his body holds up to nfl. For me his fields of this draft without the Uber rushing ability. Great Potential just won’t ever put it together

Drafting a QB on potential would be taking Drake Maye. Nix is ready to go thankfully, more so than most of the other QB's taken so far

Falcons just wanted to not have Penix go to another rival, and/or use him as trade bait after he looks really good in pre-season and spot duty. Thats my guess as to why. But they really shouldve taken BPA (WR/DE)

Btw ...this first round really highlights the ongoing evolution of the NFL style of football, all about the passing game.

6 QBs taken, 6 or so Tackles, 6 or so WRs. A couple interior pass rushers, about 4 edge rushers, a receiving TE, a handful of pure coverage DBs....and....not one RB, LB, or run stuffing interior lineman.

Even the Center taken is a skill diverse player who excels at pass coverage.

For Williams to look good he'd need this around him

There's some credence there, although very little. More than likely they see Kirk Cousins as a 2 year stop gap and next year's QB class as hot trash

I also don't see an issue with Penix's age (24). QBs these days can play to their late 30s-early 40's. If he takes over in 2026 as a 26 yo he could still easily have a good 12 year career.

Best pure passer in the class.
