I wanted Travis on day 3 to sit behind Dak.

He could be ok in the right system and given time as we rarely let our OL go to s**t and neglect it.
Travis would of been gone by now if not for the broken leg. a team happy for him sitting and if he has a clear med report will love him as a backup right now.

He will want a new deal right away. currently only has 2 years left
No one's giving him a new deal. Should be happy to play on the money he is, it's well overs.

Exactly my thoughts.

Lance is not the answer for us as backup and was a bonehead move but you have to have back up QBs.

Bears done great putting pieces around Williams but his coaching still concerns me. If they had hired someone like Ben Johnson or Bobby Slowik this offseason id say hes pretty much bust proof also.
For Williams to look good he'd need this around him

Christian McCaffery
Kyle Juszczyk
Tyreek Hill
CeeDee Lamb
George Kittle
Trent Williams
Joe Thurney
Jason Kelce
Zach Martin
Penei Sewell

And even then I'd be worried that the talent on the other side of the ball will spook him.

WR's dont live in reality. I would be shocked if he gets traded and plays on this deal.

Some dumb GM might trade for him and get suckered into paying him.

Suddenly im now the 2nd biggest Caleb hater.

I am not that brutal in my thoughts but i tend to agree!

Williams reminds me of Zach Wilson.

Looks good against trash. Can't compete with anything any good.

Wilson got drafted based off beating up on sub .500 G5 schools, and got beaten by the only 2 good teams.
Williams beat up on trash too. Both at Oklahoma and USC. Then against good teams, couldn't keep up with and got beaten just about every time.

Ive never been high on him. he is too reliant on improv and i dont see him going through progressions or reading a defense. lots of easy short throws he either skips or doesnt see just to try and make a highlight reel play and hope his dude is the better athlete and will win.

Nothing to do with his defense being one of the worst in the country? Apart from the Notre Dame game I thought he was fine in most of his defeats. The offense put up points and moved the ball, the defense would give up 35 + constantly.

Of the QBs taken today Ill go with

1. Maye
2. Daniels
daylight
3. McCarthy
=4. Nix/Penix
6. Williams
I would of had Penix 3.

Would of had Ewers 4th if he entered the draft.

Not to mention the Bears are a QB graveyard regardless who they start at the position and what weapons they provide.

I find it hard to judge Penix.
Washington had perhaps the best WR corps in the country. And their coach took advantage of that and went the spread to exploit defences. Even an average QB could've taken that team to the Pac-12 CG. Yeah, he's better than average. Hence winning the Pac-12.

But how good is he actual? Hard to say

Also, for a southpaw, he's no Kellen Moore. So in that regards, he should've been an UDFA

Could be our Mahomes/Smith. But I doubt
Will be Brandon Weeden's age by the time he starts :fire: ...makes no sense to me, would have thought McCarthy would have been the guy if you were going QB given he was the youngest.

Falcons hate edge rushers with an undying passion. Give how quick the QBs went, trading back and taking your pick at Edge would have been the smart play. Could have got some really nice future picks

I am totally the opposite

1. Williams - most talented rookie plus 2nd best situation for rookie qb
2. McCarthy - best situation for rookie qb

Daylight

3. Maye - has the talent just horrible situation for rookie qb, horrible wr room

4. Pennix - has 2 years to sit and learn atleast

5. Daniels - bust doubt his body holds up to nfl. For me his fields of this draft without the Uber rushing ability. Great Potential just won’t ever put it together

Daylight

6. Nix - mega bust his just horrible mainly his footwork and age. Plus broncos not a great situation
