If we are being honest, jared goff is the most valuable player amongst all play off teams . Unlike the other teams ,lions have no defense to rely on, it is goff or bust.
Put your money on it, Goff will be MVP especially if Lions get the #1 seed

Interesting stat…Goff is 17-0 td/int on 3rd & 4th downs this season ..pretty impressive

I swear to God man, if Barkley beats an all-time record and it's not good enough for the MVP? I might just flip right out.

Typically records and awards don't phase me much, but you have to reward someone making history, doing something significant that's never been done before. We're not talking some obscure bullshit stat, we're talking about rushing more yards than anyone in history.

I have often posted here and on Twitter how I'd like to see the NFL awards focus on MVP of every position, treated equally, and get rid of the singular MVP award which just always goes to QBs.....and someone replied to me once with a good point ...he said....dumbass, that's what the All-Pro squad selection is.

I didn't mean literally for the award, but more as an mvp by definition. If you line up all the teams in the playoffs, everyone except the lions have a defense they can rely on to make some plays and bail the offense when they are down.

The lions defense has been gutted in a way I have never seen. They simply don't look like they have the ability to stop a running nose, much less an offense in the playoffs.

Goff has to be at a level beyond god mode each and every single game or they will lose.

I meant literally for the award. For the reasons you gave too. He surely will be in the conversation especially if Lions get the #1

They lost the plot the season they didn't give it to Kupp.

The only thing that might hurt Barkley is the narrative of it being done in 17 games rather than 16 games like dickerson. Which is why we are seeing dickerson throwing a tantrum over the record.

Which is ironic because dickerson set his record in 16 games, breaking oj's record set in 14 games.

But Barkley did it in 16?

With their being 12, 14, 16, 17, soon 18 games a season.....records like those should be re-assessed on ave yards per game etc
There's no fair way to work these things out. Guys get injured in game, play in terrible weather, get benched or stop throwing when the game is safe, go down early to end games etc.

Whichever benchmark you look at, you'll find reasons why another approach has a different result.

Dickerson had 379 carries, Barkley currently has 34 less carries so most likely he’d break the record with less carries.

Jim Brown had 1677 yds in 12 game season which no one has broken in first 12 games

That's the pertinent point that people keep forgetting, is that he'll break the record with less carries, despite the fewer games. In terms of carries and yards, he compares pretty favourably with OJs season.

I guess if you really wanted to make a counter argument?

It's the opposite to his TD argument. His TD numbers aren't that great because Hurts vultures all the short yardage TDs. But on the flipside, Hurts running short yardage plays, especially at the goal line, might improve Barkley's stats.

In other words, I think Hurts has 12-short yardage rushing TDs this season. That's 12 carries that Barkley doesn't have, where the most yardage you can get is 1 yard.

Starting to think the Vikings will get the one seed. Which would really shake up the NFC.

Surely they can defend a little bit better than we did and, you know, kicker.

Of the 3 best NFC teams, Vikings getting the No 1 probably opens up the NFC the most but will unfortunately create the best NFC Championship match up earlier in the playoffs.

Goff for MVP? Nope. Best OC, top 2 offensive line, full complement/mix of offensive weapons, a coach that doesn't punt, easy schedule outside of division.

Yeah I'm no Goff fan because I've seen him before when he doesn't have all those things going for him.

If you have to consider Goff, then you have to add Darnold.

For mind, they are all behind Allen, Barkley, Jackson and Burrows.
