CBS’ Jonathan Jones reports the Bears plan to interview Kentucky OC Liam Coen for their offensive coordinator vacancy.
38-year-old Coen has had a strange career, leaving Kentucky in 2022 to serve as Sean McVay’s coordinator with the Rams only to return to Lexington for 2023. There were rumors head Wildcats coach Mark Stoops could move on, but he opted to stay at Kentucky. Evidently his OC is getting antsy again. It’s hard to say how much of an improvement Coen would be over Luke Getsy. The ‘Cats are known for run-heavy, “interesting” offenses.

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reports the Commanders are targeting Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson as top choice for head coach.
The highly coveted Ben Johnson has had interview requests from the Commanders, Titans, and Falcons, with interest from nearly every head coaching vacancy. Russini reports that the Commanders have Johnson as their “top choice” while the Panthers are also hoping to land him. The Commanders just hired 49ers assistant Adam Peters as general manager and are now looking to revamp the team with a budding offensive mind in Johnson.

No way Johnson picks Panthers over Washington. Its a pipedream by tepper.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Raiders interim head coach Antonio Pierce is the leading candidate for their permanent head coaching position.
Pierce has garnered the support of current Raiders players after coaching the team to a 5-4 record as the interim head coach. He started the season as the Raiders’ linebackers coach and took over after Josh McDaniels was fired midseason. The Raiders will look at other options, but Pierce’s success and support from key players have him as the leading candidate to coach the team.

I would only be happy with this hiring if Peirce has a plan to fix qb position and has the ability to recruit quality staff.

I think we end up with someone like Frank Smith (Dolphins OC who doesnt call plays).

He did wonders for Levis in 2021 and when he left it was one of the big reasons for his struggles in 2022. I think it be an ok hire.
Your not going to get much better candidate with them keeping the head coach and Fields staying still in play.

Best guess on coaches

Panthers - Smith
Washington - Johnson
Raiders - Pierce
Chargers - Harbaugh
Titans - Callahan
Falcons - Belichick
Seahawks - Vrabel

Slowik return to Houston OR is coaching the Eagles if they continue the self implosion in the playoffs.

It wouldnt surprise if not just Johnson but other candidates schedule a Panthers interview behind other team interviews on purpose and then cancel the interview to agree to terms with another offer.

I reckon Tepper is headed down the geriatric Al Davis path where no one wants to work for him, has a bad smothering reputation, etc and all Tepper/Davis could do (or maybe preferred) is having a cheap no name who was content to be a puppet....or like a Josh McCown getting the coveted experience for the resume only

Seriously WTF

Kraft was a fool when he promoted Mayo without doing a proper HC search. They've gone from Belichick (the Patriot Way) to Mayo, who has literally not spent a single season of his professional career as a player or coach outside of the Patriot Way. And yet they seek to think he's going to completely rebuild the culture etc. Insanity.

Bob Kraft has lost his mind btw.
Interesting article on ESPN by Seth Wickersham, who wrote the "It's Better to Be Feared" book detailing the Patriots dynasty (which I recommend). For the most part he is pointing the blame of this whole saga on the Krafts

Thanks fpr posting. Was a long read but tbh they all come off as egomaniac nutters. Brady, B.Kraft, J.Kraft, Belichick.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports the Falcons have requested an interview with Raiders interim head coach Antonio Pierce.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Pierce is the leading candidate to land the head coaching gig for Las Vegas. Pierce’s players have supported his bid to be the full-time boss throughout his successful run as the team’s interim head coach and star defensive end Maxx Crosby has even gone as far as saying he will explore a trade request if Pierce isn’t hired. Davante Adams is also among the players who have been vocal about their support of Pierce. Aside from the Raiders, the Titans and now the Falcons have also shown interest in hiring Pierce. We fully expect him to return to Las Vegas in a permanent role, but at least two other teams will make him a pitch.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Jaguars are expected to speak to former Giants DC Don Martindale next week.
The long time defensive coach previously served on the staff of the Giants and Ravens, acting as a defensive coordinator for the previous six seasons. His “in your face” style and heavy blitz rates have been both effective and fun to watch during that time, leaving it likely he draws further interest from the multitude of teams requiring a fresh face on the defensive side of the ball. Martindale recently stepped down from his position with the Giants after just two seasons.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Colts assistant GM Ed Dodds met with the Raiders and will meet with the Panthers and Chargers for their GM vacancies.
Dodds has been with the Colts since 2018 and has a busy schedule of general manager interviews for this hiring cycle. Schefter reports that Dodds has interviewed with the Raiders and plans to meet with the Panthers and Chargers as well. The three teams are looking to fill their general manager vacancies with different appeals to all three jobs. Dodds is in demand as a potential new general manager this offseason.

Only if he takes the year off. These contracts are normally structured where if they coach elsewhere they dont need to pay.
$68k a day spending your days gardening, napping, crossword puzzles.....or something similar to work for Jerry Jones?
