I put the % likelihood of Weddle completing the actual beep test at 0%.
I am sure he completed whatever audio we had though.
He completed what we let him…

It was well passed level 21 I know that much.

I'm surprised with Weddle's performance, but I'm equally surprised that we're doing the beep test. It seems like ages since that was considered a decent test at the highest level of sport.

Honestly never understood why it came out of vogue, considering the ability to push at a high intensity while exhausted is very important for AFL players.
I think I will back our conditioning team.

Can confirm that the skills post beep test were pretty ordinary, with fatigue taking hold.
That's to be expected, and again why this preseason is so important. I doubt the coaching group would have missed it.

Yeah, not to be a downer, but I don't see any world where Weddle managed to beat the world record by over 4 levels. Whether it was a shorter distance or a different audio track from whatever the "official" beep test audio is. Still pumped for Weddle and even further vindication in our decision to trade so much capital to grab him.

Absolutely buzzing that so many of the boys have come back in such great nick, shows some real confidence in what Mitchell is building and is a great endorsement of the characters we've been drafting for a while now.

Has Butler stood out so far this pre-season? I’m really hoping he’s pushing for a spot in the best 22 next year.
So far….is 1 session.

Was shown in the photos of the unofficial pre-pre-season last week in the leading running group with the usual suspects. Then mentioned today as being among the top beep test performers.

Obviously it's early days but I don't think anyone could fault him on how he's returned. He's giving himself the best chance for a spot.

If people wanted to know who was there today, it was everyone but:

Impey
Reeves
Meek
Frost
Amon
Breust
Chol
Gunston
Ginnivan (still on mandated break from playing in finals)

So a lot of 4+ year players showed up, despite not needing to be there!

Wasn't there for the beep test but was there for the first couple of hours. Interesting notes:

-CJ and Massimo running laps a majority of the time rather than doing drills (O'Sullivan also joined them later)
-Lewis and Nash were there but didn't do any drills (might have done the beep test but not sure?)
-Wingard was there watching the boys! (Talking to CJ about how good the new training kits are - sounds like he's not leaving!)

Reeves was upstairs.

Frost ran laps before the others came down.

They used audio from a CD. I assume that the test was official. However since it was done in house can never be submitted as such. Yes it went well past 21. You can take it however you want it. Weddle was the only one running at this stage everyone else had dropped out

Edit: it was run by Burge

Has DGB filled out / does he look fitter?
