Some of you guys would’ve have a conniption if you’d ever gone out with Gibbo.

Nose beers in December is an AFL players right of passage.
Seen plenty of players do drugs, and it’s not shocking to me at all, but I understand why some people would be raising an eyebrow over a 20yo who’s already essentially been walked out of one club for off field behaviour and already been caught doing class A’s before, supposedly doing it again so flagrantly.

Hope it’s bullshit.

Disappointed to hear that about Ginnivan if true given he is suppose to be a professional athlete …… sounds like our club leaders have got some work to do.
It’s not just Ginnivan and Oliver.

It’s a large slice of these professional athletes aged 18 - 35, who won’t get tested over these 3 weeks, have heaps of disposable cash and a desire not to put on weight during offseason break.

I’d be very surprised if less than half of our list aren’t engaging in recreational drugs between Xmas and 10/1.

Don’t like it, wish it wasn’t happening, but not naive to it happening. It’s what they do nowadays instead of sinking 🍺🍺🍺

This is the point. It is not ALL players. I still believe it is a large minority of players doing drugs.

It is an issue with Ginnivan. How do we deal with it will be interesting. I can tell you Sam will leave it to others who are concerned and employed to deal with player welfare.

İ wouldn't say ALL players and young people do drugs! I know a few recent past players and they were completely against it when the topic was raised in general chit chat. Plenty don't go near it. İt's not a necessity to enjoy life outside of your profession so hopefully the club are all over it before it gets out of hand.

Are you like 100 years old?

Well I guess as long as they aren't doing nose beers and real beers at the same (joking). Seriously though we all know the majority of these guys do it but someone like Ginni just needs to realise that he's got a target on his back especially due to being caught before. I can't sit here and judge the kid because I've done some done sh*t in my past too but the penny did drop. The only differences being that I'm not on as much coin as him and I don't have every douchebag with a mobile filming to maybe extort $$$ out of me.

Most of us on here weren’t born yesterday and we have all seen a lot in our lives …… but with our drafting over the last couple years we have really honed in on kids/young men with strong characters to create a strong culture at the club. If true and similar Ginnavan rumours keep popping up and he doesn’t learn from his mistakes can’t see how it will work under Mitch from a long term perspective. If he doesn’t develop and improve hope he has a plan B on how to stand on his own two feet.

Beers are like $15 in some joints now (esp places like festivals and anywhere AFL players will want to gather). Makes total sense why people steer towards it, plus you’re genuinely more in control of your thoughts, feelings and emotions on that shit over alcohol.

Not saying it’s a good thing but the alternative is sinking 12 beers and making a knob of yourself out of control like lakey

Chance given should be a chance taken. Ginnivan has been given a fresh start at our club, I hope he make the best of this opportunity.

Mates daughter just got back from BTV and said Ginni openly taking drugs there for what is worth! Hope he gets his sh$t together

Heard another story too but I had my post deleted from the rumours thread, even though I didn't name him or mention anything salacious (because aside from what you've referenced, there hasn't been any actual incidents or behaviour to report).

Can we ban the term 'nose beers'?

The most cringe term I unfortunately hear on a daily basis.

This times 1000.

If the kid is stupid enough to do drugs in a public setting and the club finds out about it then piss him off to the Box Hill Hawks.

Coke ain’t cheap either

I’m not too fussed if players muck up and let loose a bit here and there, as long as they perform. If Ginni comes back and kicks 30+ goals this year, I’ll be more than happy.

If it affects his performance, very different story….

Just heard Sam Hargreaves on SEN one of his big predictions for the year is a three way tie in the Brownlow ……. Bont, Nick Daicos and the boy from Poowong. He thinks that he’s got game from bursting out of packs drilling it long into the forward line, he’s tough and wins his own ball, can play inside and outside and has got the long hair and the umps will notice him more 👍🤞

Genuine question. Google results are jam packed with articles across all the shitty news media. Does anyone know the worst thing Ginnivan has supposedly done while using drugs?

As far as I'm aware there's no reports of him being violent, damaging property, sexual misconduct or driving under the influence.

What a story that would be one day eh

Pretty sure the worse thing is that he got caught doing blow. Got dobbed in by McStay.
