Let’s use it in combination with the eye test.

Did you feel he was damaging with his distribution?

Like Cripps, he’s very handball happy - would Kennedy offer more to the midfield mix perhaps?

Worth a discussion.

I’d have Kennedy in against Petrecca, Oliver and Viney tbh.
I don't think Hewett performed well against the Pies but his low metres gained weren't the reason why. I am very happy with Kennedy in the 22 but would not be dropping Hewett for him. However, we should not be running any CBAs with Cripps, Hewett AND Kennedy together. And even CBAs with two of them should be limited imo

Weitering will likely take Van Rooyen

Weitering could take Petty and Kemp comes in to take Van Rooyen

Haven't watched the VFL game yet
Yeh my thoughts were that. Weitering on Petty, Kemp on JVR and Gov on Fritsch. Leaves us with Turner. Could we see Weitering/Gov/Kemp/Marchbank all together with Boyd, Williams and Newman...

Can't Weitering take Petty? Young is just so slow with ball in hand I think he really hurts our ability to move the ball out of D50.
Young trips over his own feet trying to pick up the ball.

He’s probably the weakest 200cm player in the AFL and is shrugged off in tackles and marking contests.

Does a few good things too though.

He's fine for what he is - a fifth string tall defender on our list. Just unfortunate he has had to play so many games this early in the season with injuries to Weitering, McGovern and Marchbank.

That scares me. Fritsch is dangerous. We need someone on him that is less attacking than Gov.

Yeah I don’t think Young is getting dropped this week. Petty took a few good clunks tonight so hopefully Young can combat that

How confident are you of that happening?

I don't have any confidence in the bloke at all anymore.

Young has the height to match it with Petty.. but that's about it. This stuff goes beyond just matchups.

We need to play a team defence and for that to work we need players that have the ability to work to a system. Young just has nfi. He tries hard but just isn't reliable at AFL level.

If Marchbank and Gov are fit like Voss suggested, no way he stays in imo.

Lever grabbed at his hammy in the last 20 seconds when kicking and slipping on the synthetic grass

I noticed that as well.
If he misses that is a huge bonus for us.

I reckon Kemp might be a good match up for Fritsch.

The MC selections are bewildering. Let's hope Marchbank isn't bought straight back in after playing only a half all year.

Changes id make this week are:

Kemp for young.
Mcgovern for Williams.
Martin for Fantasia

Kennedy Must start.
Hardly bewildering. I’m not in MC and I get why players are and aren’t selected. Kennedy I think was just a part of a rotation. He gets rested several times a year, and I think this may have been a good opportunity to give him a little bit of a rest. Young played because Cox would’ve torn Kemp a new one had that been the matchup. Fantasia only played because Fog, Motlop and Martin didn’t play

Why not? Walsh walks in after 6 weeks and dominates.

I am really tired of excuses for average players
Walsh dominates offensively but also doesn't. Walsh has been terrible defensively. His running hides how often he's lost his man. Since he's been back we've basically been worst in the league at defending stoppages. So let's settle on all of it. Cunners first game back was stillbetter than half the team played. Walsh last quarter losing daicos was horrific. They're both still coming back. Other posters are right. Attention should be on the hewetts, acres, durdins, etc who just don't defend at all anymore. Or for the smalls win ground ball gets
