The selectors actually selected two wingmen last year with Gulden and J. Daicos.

If they're going to pick the best players based on their position, then D'Ambrosio should've been the other one.
Josh Daicos had a better year than D’Ambrosio by virtually every single metric, but didn’t even make the squad. Would have been an all time blunder for Mass to have made the side.

Stengle probably didn't make it because they were worried about where he'd end up after the function and the ensuing media shitstorm.

Only half joking.

One plays for a team that finished in the top 4

The other played for a team that won 3 games for the year.

Playing for a team that lost a lot of games didn't hurt Waterman's chances, Sheezel was more deserving of an AA nod than him.

Ryan and Waterman the two shockers. Cameron and Houston were a little lucky. In most seasons a player like Treloar would be the unlucky mid to miss out.

For impact in their role: Sicily, Andrews, Holmes, Curnow, JHF and Stengle pretty stiff to not take 5 of those spots between them.

Cameron was the worst Geelong player of our 3 nominees.

Sheezel a bigger snub than Stengle IMO.

Sheezel had a fine season and I would have been fine with him in. I'm not convinced he had a better season than any on the bench.

Don't think his first 8 rounds at half back were particularly good. Just meaningless stats (a lot of that because the team was bad) but thought he was outstanding when he played midfield/half forward. Would've been disappointed if they picked him as an AA half back

SHeezel missing out. Mass missing the wing. Xerri missing out for Gawn. Jezza getting in on his name.

These are not that controversial, its subjective after all.

But Waterman as a forward?!! You have to laugh really. He has been bog average since the bye. Absolutely baffling

You got to hand it to zorko.

Was seemingly on the decline and being used as a role player but has now become AA again.

Was a disgrace how many brisbane supporters threw him under the bus when the Petty sledge news originally broke (just dig up the old thread for a laugh); he was a whipping boy at the time and they couldn't even wait to hear his side of the story.

7 years between AAs - is that a record?

I think you'll find most of the commentary was along the lines of "if what was said is true, then Zorko needs to pull his head in".

As history had it, Zorks was exonerated by the court of public opinion once the true story came out.

Couldn't be happier for the great man.

I still can't believe Harris Andrews didn't get in. Hilarious.
