AA selectors don't give a shit, and will vote for Gawn. Hell the gave it to Buddy over SHannon Hurn who was premiership captain in the 2018 and in the AA team.

So can you explain how Nat Fyfe was the 2019 captain given Fremantle finished 13th?
Or Buddy in 2018 given Sydney were out first week of final?

It's not always going to be as straight forward as the best performing teams.

The original post I quoted is questioning Merrett being in the conversation and that's what I was talking about. As if Merrett wouldn't be in the conversation at this stage. He's been far better than Greene and Rozee over 7 games. Gawn has been great but Merrett has also been great. It's not controversial for him to be ahead of Gawn and vice versa. Score 1 point last week and Essendon has the same wins as Melbourne.

This is essentially most people’s reaction to most of your posts. You know that right?

Watch a game ffs. We are 7-0 and there are 3 ways that happens.

1. Our entire 22 are all at, say, a 75 per cent level where there are literally no standouts thus no one in contention for a team like this.

2. There is just 1 guy absolutely carrying the team like a Fyfe, Dangerfield or Martin at various stages over the last decade with maybe one other player.

3. We have a side where a good portion of it are just doing their job - 16-17 players, and another handful: Holmes, Cameron, Stewart, Stengle, Miers - are playing above that level and ensuring we are getting the job done. If you actually watch any of our games beyond a token package that’s pretty obvious to anyone. He’s by a country mile our best ball user going into our forward 50 and almost without fail makes the right decision and finds the right target. Yes we get it, you are finding it hard with every win to contain your frustration but you were doing well.

Melbourne have literally played 2 teams in the top 8 themselves and have played Hawthorn, Bulldogs, Brisbane and Adelaide - same as us - as well as Richmond who are 1-6. And they lost to Brisbane at home. And have played 4 matches at the MCG of their 7.

Most of the top teams look to have had easy draws. Part of that's cause they're all beating the same teams and part is a quirk of who has played who. The next couple of weeks will be more informative but it's bizarre to single out Geelong's easy draw and not Melbourne, Sydney or GWS.

You've taken Miers kicks instead of disposals. He averages 14.6 kicks but 22 disposals a game.
