Looks like Sandy are getting some very useful signings.

I think the promise of rookie drafting a zebra each year has to be good for recruiting. Well done to the club for thinking outside of the box.
That rookie spot on offer certainly is handy carrot being offered to young players overlooked in their draft year…great initiative!

Can't see why it wasn't done 5 years ago TBH. Better late than never.

It feels like they have neglected Sandy for years. Now it looks like we are pouring energy into it and funny enough when you water a plant it starts to thrive. You don't need to rebrand it if you are prepared to throw some time and money at it. This is a great start.

In a perfect world I think most of us would like to see a St Kilda Reserves side running around.

But they would need to be competitive (we would still have the same top up issues and be exposed by excessive injuries). Personally I'd much rather have a competitive Sandy Zebras side running around than an uncompetitive Saints Reserve side.

It has been the hopelessness of the Sandringham side over a long period of time that has driven Saints fans to despair.

Happy to cheer like mad for the miscoloured African stripy horses if they can win their way through to September.

Another handy signing!!!

No issue with getting more Inside Midfielders at Sandy: Draft Profile

Logan Young
Height: 190cm
Weight: 84kg

D.O.B: 14-03-2002

Leagues: Coates Talent League Boys

POSITION: Inside Midfielder

DRAFT ANALYSIS: "Young is a hard-working inside midfielder who wins plenty of contested ball, but can also accumulate on the spread with his strong endurance base." - Michael Alvaro

Claremont midfielder Logan Young has enjoyed a steep rise in 2020, returning a stellar WAFL Colts season as one of the competition's big improvers. The 18-year-old's on-field feats came largely on the back of his work off it, as Young's work ethic and desire to extract the best from himself saw his fitness and footballing levels lift in a big way. He played a key role in the Tigers' run to the Colts Grand Final in 10 high-quality outings, averaging 22.5 disposals and 6.3 clearances as his side's primary ball winner.

STRENGTHS:

Contested ball
Clearances
Endurance
Tackling
Attitude/work rate
Consistency

The son of prominent player manager Colin Young, powerful midfielder Logan captained Claremont's colts in 2020 before crossing to Victoria to play for the Sandringham Dragons. After going undrafted, Young returned to Western Australia, signing with West Coast's WAFL side to play alongside brother Brandan while also trialling for a supplementary rookie spot. He played 14 WAFL game in 2022, and was also a travelling emergency with the AFL side after being called off the Covid contingency list.

Sounds like the sort of guy that StCicatriz would have an opinion on

i'd suggest and this is taking nothing away from the player himself or his ability to play that signing him can't be anything but a good thing

Sounds like the kind of guy who is not quite AFL level, even when West Coast were at their most desperate.

to be honest that whole WCE alignment club is a complete shambles

they've just hired my clubs ex captain as coach to try and turn it around

i guess what i am saying is the side has been so ****in shit its impossible to get a read on anyone really because they're getting so badly belted week in week out which would be terrible for any player

brady gray is a good example of this. greg clark another.
