We've just witnessed the Filth jump the shark in giving Perryman 6 years.

Their first pick in the ND is 35 and you know they're desperate when soldiers are getting 6 years.

You can smell it.

Perryman barely made the top 10 in the GWS B&F.

With the exception of the Daicos brothers, all their heavy lifters are 28 or older and the cream of them (Pendlebury and Sidebottom) are on their last legs.

They'd literally kill their own to have all of LDU (Pick 4) Sheezel (3) George (4) Kerch (2) and Duursma (3) running around in their colours.

They'd do the same to get their grubby hands on pick 2.

Yet we're considering giving up pick 2 to slide outside the top 5.

Madness imo.
Kind of cool to see this - reminds me of the big EPL clubs blowing up their wage structures.

Clearly didn’t read my post, or took it completely out of contest. No one is more critical of our drafting than I.. FWIW I was filthy we took Dow when I wanted Stephenson.. turns out SOS and I both had no idea.. although like North atm I suspect a fair bit has to do with development within the club and can’t solely be placed on recruiting. My post was simply that I found it interesting.
Look, his response was as funny as you reminding us of Will Walker. Like, it’s ten times funnier if it was genuine just because how much it the pick confused us. Not just because we ****ed up, but because it was almost the beginning of our recruiting team thinking they could get cute with unsuspecting players, like they were Hawthorn and knew some hidden talent no one else unearthed. We thought it died down after Walker, although, Perez, Mahony and Goad has me doubtful.

Now do the 2019 first round we traded out of
  • the 2017 second round
  • the 2018 trade/draft debacle
  • the 2019 “let’s trade out if the first round just to see what happens…”
  • the 2020 covid crapshoot
  • the 2021 “well we zoomed him once and he said he loves us”

It is illustrated definition of draft and trade incompetence with a garnish of shit luck.

Or North **** them over and pick Baker before WC
If they are going to conspire to rig the FA system together and push out our top pick, the gloves come off and we nab baker.

Graham is a solid enough player, but he is a journeyman. At least McKay was 25 and a 200cm interceptor. The AFL could not let this happen.

Probably only for this draft being so deep they say but we definitely should be trying to at least split pick 2 or offer a F2 to get another teams mid 1st rounder...only one pick in the first round, be it pick 2 or 3 with an Ashcroft bid, in this draft would be foolhardy.
I'd prefer to split 2 than move the F1. 25 or F2 deal won't be as good other teams with mid/late F1's.
Might end up being we just sit with what we have and try move our F2 for another mid 20's pick like GC.
Perhaps we look at Jasper Alger as the small forward in the mid 20's and just take Gerreyn/Faull/Sims/M Whitlock at 25. We'll see what happens in trade week.

I love it when flem-wad journos post ideas.

Report the news numbnuts.
Have you ever accidentally left the tellie on TVSN? Seeing some of the salespeople stranded on an hour set thinking of ways to sell Zircon earrings is equal parts hilarious and horrifying.

The AFL media literally have nothing to sell except BS rumours until trades actually start to go through. I’m not apologising for them, but falsifying news is literally their job and it’s shit.

Absolute idiots continually claiming we had absolutely no chance at Band 1 for Zurhaar.

Remains the worst call in recent years not pushing him out for Pick 3

It was Collingwood as the interested party also…
yes lets perennially rely on the fugazi of never ending early picks in a perpetual cycle where the rebuilds always complete 5 years away

christ, you post some absolute shit and this is right up there

I’m pretty comfortable saying that CZ does not possess the fire/will to end up being value for his latest contract. Stupidity from the club.

Fair enough, will give you the benefit of the doubt. We have so many opposition supporters that troll our boards when you said I’m not gloating it kind of sounded like you were gloating.

Yeah it’s bad but not leaving LDU on the table bad

If you are offered pick 3 for Cam you say “where the **** do I sign?” It doesn’t matter where we are at. Whats he done? 4 fifths of **** all

Even if it was pick 3, we really are not in a position to continually be losing players with 7-8 years experience to start again with another 18 year old.

Pick 3 for McKay last year was definitely overs and long term we have every reason to be optimistic that ZD will be a better player, but looking just at this year and not having McKay and instead having a first year ZD, we were a worse team.

Last year, with all the other first round picks we collected, a strong argument can be made that it made sense to take the short term hit and really load up, but at some point we need to hold the talent we have and use it as a base to improve in the short term and not be in a continual cycle of developing players, cashing them in for perceived irresistible 'overs'.

Given our draft/trade strategy this year seems far more focused on bringing in experience than last year and recent years, it would be counter productive to be allowing experience on our list to be leaving.

The other one that confused me was Jacob Edwards. I watched a lot of his schoolboy year as my wife taught him at Mentone Grammar but was always going to be too small to play ruck at AFL level and didn’t have the forward craft to be a key forward.. but the hype on him when you took him in the mid season draft had him as the next Dean Cox.

Like Sheezel, LDU, Wardlaw, Zane or even Logue? Our only good players or AFL standard talent?

Put the bong down mate. We aren't Tottenham, we're currently QPR. And it's not 1976 and we sure as **** don't have Stanley Bowles up front.

Zurhaar leaving would have been equally as bad as signing him for a near on a decade as he continues to be a shadow of what makes a decent footballer - cultural wins potentially aside.

Good win in Hungary midweek mind, Ange is doing a great job (with a bunch of 'kids').

We are all sick of losing, but there's no point being good while Brisbane are gonna win another 3 in a row. Let's be the next great side, with an ounce of luck, we probably can. Patience (more, somehow) my boy.

You know what confuses me? How teams like Carlton can somehow have an extra 3 million dollars in Salary cap..

It probably confuses me more how clubs like North manage to reach their TPP obligations.. who are you paying?
Plenty of us have asked the exact same question in the last few years
