Not the point.

Just admit you had no idea of the rules, got it completely wrong and move on.
I'll admit that you are a fool even trying to connect the JHF situation to the Sanders situation. In no way, shape or form are they the same. One completely never wanted to be where they were. The other, although at times might be frustrated, is in a far better, and successful environment.

Picioane, Thompson, Hay, Hartung, Howe, Shiels….if I missed any others I apologise.

But we don’t need anymore C grade players from Hawthorn.
He's better than any meduim sized defender we've got on the list now and can play on smalls.

JHF could have been held to his contract for his second year and he would have played for NM in 2023. What benefit does that serve the club or the player? Better for him to go and go quickly. Is Sanders situation the same as this? Actually, the last No.1 draft pick to ditch their club after one year was Tom Scully. Then you need to go back to Nathan Buckley. Scully and FIGJAM were not the absolute peanuts that JHF ever was and still is.

hahaha what.

My god, some of you have completely lost the plot.

From memory - and this could be wrong - Carlton didn't get ANY compo for Waite which means he was on SFA. And he was on a different planet to Lobb in terms of talent - AND we were actually half decent so adding an old player made sense.

Lobb doesn't help ! With anything. It would be the last straw for me.
In the last two season he kicked 50 goals (36 and then 24), he kicked 20 the year before that.

In the last two years he'd have been our third highest goal scorer with those figures and would have been fourth the year before that. We tried to play CCJ in that role. At least this campaigner knows how to do it.

What price gets him looking NM's way, over offers from Collingwood, Hawthorn and Melbourne? Any suggestions?
No, I have no idea ... but $750kpa is a shitload of money for someone (who is better than what we have but not that great.)

Provided it doesn't interfere with any of our good young players or keeping LDU then I probably wouldn't care to be honest but its a lot of money. We gave to TT after he looked like living up to his 20-25 disposals and 1 - 2 goals a game potential only a couple of years ago.

Lobb's not within cooee of that.

The only reason I connected JHF to the Sanders situation is because you posted a blatently incorrect statement that Sanders could not be traded because of his 3 year contact. I couldn't give a shit with posters linking Sanders to North via trades.

Seems to me that not only do you have a limited knowledge of basic AFL contract rules but your compression is shocking as well.

Time to take the loss and move on.

The answer isn't Rory ****ing Lobb on 700k. This much I know.
He's (allegedly) only on $400K right now. 2 years at $600 with triggers for a third (games and goals maybe) might be worth doing if we can cover the other guns we have.

If we need to, front load the feck out of it. Something like 1.5million for season 1 and the rest split over years 2 and 3.

The other thing is that the closest we have to an itk from Tassie reckons Sanders is very keen to come back and play for the Devils (he's not so certain about Kerch fwiw.)

You are trying to compare apples with bananas. Very poor effort. I do admit you have NFI on this issue!

We'd have been paying TT $750k this year if he hadn't ****ed up so seriously. But maybe $600K for 3 years with $1.2mil of it in the first 12 months would work tho.

I’m sure Brady can better that?

You know he has it in him.

As an AFL Player Manager, getting a phone call from Brady Rawlings would be like Xmas.

New car, new pool, pay off the mortgage, put the kids through school.
Who's gonna come here now if we don't offer them a financial incentive? Its just where we're at. The same reason we ended up with Noble coaching.

Most player trades that get shit canned by posters here are like steak knives deals for a third or fourth rounder or players who are better than the posters canning the deal give them credit for, like Aidan Corr.

I don’t mind them paying (even if it’s slight overs) AFL proven quality to come here, but shit deals like CCJ and Stephens that had no runs on the board are what you find pisses people off.

Instead Rawlings is throwing good money to blokes that are playing VFL and not even help progress our list build.

It like the guy has a fetish for lucky dips, hoping he finds a prize in one.

We should be targeting players that have a track record of playing at the level not those on the fringe.

If we have to pay overs, so be it, but at least do it for someone that is going to come in and impact the AFL program by being best 22.

Because he isn't good enough for us apparently and we would be his 4th club

Didnt Martin Pyke play for 4 clubs also? Fitzroy, North, Brisbane and Melbourne, became a 4 time premiership player..with Brisbane being his last club where he won 3 Premierships..

We needed a player like CCJ at the time. It was probably the worst trade he made tho.

Stevens isn't the shit deal everyone makes out. He was poor last year but a decent player in a GF side the year before. We got him and pick 25 for 19 this year (one we'd all expected to we had to trade and will end up around 25 anyway) and pick 44 last year. Without trading for him we might not have Will Dawson.

While he looks like a weak gutless player now, he still could recapture the form he had in 2022, which was better than Bailey Scott's form at the same age (2021).

He might leave for the Devils. A real possibility. Sanders, if he could be convinced to come to NM, was mates with Sheezel at Sandringham Dragons. Sanders is also good mates with McKercher. Sure he might want to go home but if he does, Tassie will cough up a top 5 draft pick, you'd think. They will be armed with a bag of first round draft picks.
