Ollie Wines would be a dream recruit for mine. Josh Battle would just be the cream on top.

Chad Warner worth a look? Not sure if he would replace Lazaro or Bailey Scott in the pecking order
Would need to prove himself in the VFL for mine.

Will be interesting…long way out..hopefully we are doing our homework on all possibilities….leadership and needs ..l like your thinking….either way l just hope we don’t spend too much capital on whoever we target…
but to have Josh mentioned in gettable l think credit has to go to buttox …he flagged Battle a few weeks back before these over paid nerds mentioned it on today’s cast…

What did they say on Gettable re Battle?

Totally agree our list management is a disaster so to me you have to blame the list manager. Sack him I say and employ someone who got some ideas on recruiting and drafting as we can’t keep going with this bloke

You do know Rawlings isn't the list manager don't you?

And it also shows how quick things can turnaround if we get in a couple of mature agers. Not everyone's ideal, but add in Lobb and then maybe a Hardwick, and things look very different. But the hard part is the actual execution, it's a tough sell at the moment

CCJ is the howler. Stephens at this stage looks bad, but it’s early days and it’s possible he turns it around. I think bulk of the trades have been fine in isolation. At the time Stephenson was a good get for a reasonable price. I reckon he can still play a part in the future. The Logue trade was fine - in fact his best piece of work imo. What was essentially a mid 20’s pick for a quality KPD.

The main issue is the balance of the list and the lack of foresight ie. replacing blokes who have retired, been delisted, been traded. As an example this year we were so desperate for a couple of Key sized warm bodies we HAVE to bring in D graders in Pink and Nyuon.

It’s not all bad and sure there are things outside Rawlings’ control, but has he demonstrated best in the business type skills? I think there’s just no way anyone could make a case for that. IMO it’s the one job in the footy club you just can’t settle for okay.

Didnt Martin Pyke play for 4 clubs also? Fitzroy, North, Brisbane and Melbourne, became a 4 time premiership player..with Brisbane being his last club where he won 3 Premierships..
Finals performer at dees, B&F Fitzroy, premiership at North.

Wee bit better resume to justify a club on the cusp rolling the dice.

This is the key point. Well run clubs don't settle for "does some things well, others not so well" people in key list management roles. It's expected that you make good decisions and generate outcomes that result in a competitive list, that's literally the job.

Whichever way you want to spin it, the list he's been overseeing for five years is 0-11, a % of 50 and has a gigantic gaping KPF hole.

But at least after clarkson took over, our handling of trade has been more matured and not having our intended targets splashed across the tabloid to fester over the year.

Its a more professional approach where we identify our most pressing needs, talk to players, give them an understanding of their potential role in our team. While money is very important, giving recruit the best role that could fully eventuate their potential and purpose is probably the biggest attraction and this is no exclusive to big clubs otherwise maradona would've never gone to napoli.

But for the life of me i couldnt understand why we haven't gone after a few key fwd post brown leaving, 2m pete was available that year and he would be only 2 years older than larkey today. Could've had weidermann who wasn't getting a game down in melb. Did not draft luke mcdonald.

No wonder the 3 recruiters got sacked midseason in 2022.

Stephenson was one of the better recruits under noble with him being put on ball.

I reckon he should still be put on ball to force him to be constantly mercurial.

Speaking of key fwd, we did indeed screw up on that as we could've had at least one of 2m pete or sam weirdmann who's not even getting a game on essendon's list.
