I’d sell the farm for JUH. This years first and next years first. Both in all likelihood going to be top 5 picks.

Offer him a mill per year for the next 5.
should have just drafted mcdonald and be done with it.
In saying that, I'd happily give up a first and future 2nd for him if our key forward stocks are as bad as I think they'll be this year.

I feel pretty confident that McDonald would be playing in WA this year if he was drafted by us.

JUH, Larkey, Duursma, Zurhaar, Ford and George is a ton of tall and medium forward talent.

I think it would require us to look very promising this year to sell that he's not signing on to lose.

If we offer the most money and the talent on the team has the rest of the comp worried about 2025 onwards then we can make a splash with some bigger name signings.

He’s the biggest name this year and is perfect for us. I’d offer
This years first and our 2nd next year plus a mill a year.

He will be in Freo colours in 2025 so he wouldn’t have been with us anyway..

People need to let go of McDonald..

Wont even be close to the offer required.

The Swans have done a complete number on the Dogs by all reports of those in the know.

They offered Naughton $11m x 10 years in the knowledge he would resign and cook their cap space.

With the intention the whole time of putting $11m x 10 years to JUH.

$11m x 10 is the market cost

I’d do it no problem.

In my scenario the intention would be to give him more in his prime years once the salary cap increases again in a few years time!

I suspect they'd be asking for the likes of Sheez/LDU.

Yep, played them like a fiddle.

I suspect the AFL will find a way to give Sydney extra $$$ with JUH as an ambassador or some such.

Is there any talk the dogs are prepared to lose JUH? I get they have a **** tonne of key forwards but most are 200cm+ giants rather than potential Buddy Franklins like him.
Buddy was significantly better than JUH at the same age. I dunno if its a valid comparison.

Maybe Jack Lukosius this last year?

He looked good rolled gold as an U18 though Ferbs. Reckon he could be a reasonable facsimile of the big fella (with a lower ceiling) with a few similarities in movement and style.

I imagine they don't want to lose him, but there's not much they can do if he doesn't want to stay there.

At risk of being accused of making all threads like this, their track record with indigenous guys ain't great either.

But tbh I think Sydney's pitch of we will pay you whatever you want and you'll get to be the main man and follow on from your idol is utterly compelling

Buddy's an absolute all time great and a bit of a unicorn.

JUH seems more a traditional mark and kick KPF

Yeah ... maybe its the difference between coaches but I've become less impressed with JUH as the years have gone on. Sure he's good but not that Buddy good.

Specifically Buddy could kick further and straighter.

...

I just went and compared their stats for the same age.

Buddy is less than an inch taller but 15kg heavier, kicked 4.5/3.5 to 1.5/1.5 and had nearly 25-33% more possessions per game.

JUH does appear to have a big time temperament, which is invaluable.

I see no reason he can't be a top shelf KPF for many years.

Whether he's a genuinely generational talent like Budwah, hmmmm.
