Where does anything state that the front or back end loading affects anything? Only the “average guaranteed base salary” is mentioned. Conflating the “5 years maximum consideration” and the loading is pure speculation, and would make the formula even more unfair. Two players of the same age getting exactly the same contract, with differing loading, would result in different compensation. Imagine the outrage at that?

Also, the yearly increase of 1% is complete guesswork and irrelevant. Future salary cap
Increase is not “guaranteed base salary”, and a contracts % of the salary cap currently, or in the future, is not part of the formula.

I know sometimes you have some ITK info, but you don’t need to try to know everything.

It’s an opinion based purely on most clubs providing contracts with increases to mirror the cap rises of which Hawthorn was a club and the cap increases by 20% in the next 4 years.

Has nothing to do with ITK info and everything to do with simple mathematics

Band one is a cert, I don't see why you guys are letting the likes of Jon Ralph harvest your panic clicks with baseless triggering suggestions. Rest easy, our ITKs have already reassured us.

Bassat did exactly what a great club president would, and has done since he started. He's owned any bad decisions and corrected when necessary even at the risk of looking a fool - exactly what makes a good leader imo.

His bottom line is the one that is being swept over in a rush to his most flammable words. His bottom line is:

We cannot afford to wait for luck/gifts. We have to hunt success ourselves.

That's it.

Whether that means selling off one of our best players to get a better hand in a deep midfielder-heavy draft the same age profile as our better players, or simply not standing around on the field whinging to the umpire about an unfair decision. Agency is the ultimate freedom.

We must recognise our place in the AFL landscape, but not accept it. Like the writers of that famous song that we all sing after every win, we must fight and maintain the rage and get up after every punch down and improve until we go marching in. WHEN the Saints, not IF the Saints....

Our biggest issue now must be either changing the club's constitution to allow Bassat to continue his good work, or to ensure his successor is as smart and brave as he is.

The bad news is that we are not getting band 1 compo for Josh Battle.
The good news is that we are getting band 1 compo for Tom Campbell.

Its rises by 16.7%, not 20%. Also, if most clubs mirror the rise, then the increase makes 0% difference to the comparison to other players wages. That is simple mathematics.

You also noticeably didn’t address any of the other points.

Do you have any idea how many heart attacks you nearly caused?

Extremely irresponsible post 😉🤣

Agree re the Presidency, the tenure needs to be removed from the constitution. Are we the only club that has it, its counter productive to sustained stability. If the board want a new President surely they can vote one in. If Bassatt wants to do the job going forward and the board/club are happy with him its counter productive for that not to happen.

sorry lads, been out of action since I called battle a coward for not going to the best and fairest last night. Have since found out it was the clubs call, but he’s still a coward for leaving.

I'm shocked to be sitting here hearing you made a brash statement with scant regard as to facts and objective truth.
