Here's the link to the birds-eye view of training.

Some seriously quick ball movement in there.

That's great content from the club

For interstate or country members, it would be perfect if the club live streamed open training sessions preseason or during the year

Pre-season report card - Forwards …

Love this quote in the article from Noofa (aka Jordan Russel)...

“There’s a few of them, it’s a great problem to have. I did a function up in Sydney with the Sydney Blues team, and they were trying to get me to pick my forward line — we just started rattling off the names of who could be in there. It’s a great problem to have. These guys allow our big bulls to go to work, and then we can get on the outside as well.

“‘Fogs’ is another one as well, to go with Elijah and David who we mentioned. He plays his role so well and understands it so well. There are three or four of them that are pretty exciting prospects. What we’ve got is flexibility between roles, which is so important: guys willing to play two positions, being open to it and having the skill level and talent to be able to do it.”

I have seen plenty discussion on here as to which players occupy the last 2 spots in our forward line. Looks like even for our line coach its just as hard to pick!! Good problems to have

I just re-read this article... it is excellent insight from Noofa and makes me so excited for 2024. Reading between the lines, I think its very clear two-way running and being able to switch roles has been a big emphasis this preseason (amongst other things). His insight also into Cotters was enough for me to think we just have to find a spot for him in our best 22... he gets criticised for going missing, but Noofa explains how his role allows others to play at their best

message begins - whatever "game-plan" we are training this off season, please let it include whatever it will take to stop that brisbane "turn-around onslaught" after halftime in the pf - can we train to stop the run-ons, consolidate and return to our own structures, please? I saw it coming but was gutted when it did regardless - message ends

Think we were simply just out of legs. There was no way known we were going able to maintain the pressure we applied in the 1st quarter after 2 very physical finals the two weeks before

Fair point. The ability to halt an opposition run-on has always struck me as integral (shutup Coondog) to winning the big games. Do we get fitter or work on contingency plans? Ideally both I reckon.

This is where I'd like to see us improve. Feels as though, against the good teams, that when "plan a" isn't working, the players can't pivot fast enough to stop the opposition's run. It's a sign of maturity in my opinion.

If you take McKay Curnow as locks
Martin probably as well
Even with one Ruck how do you fit Docherty Hollands Owies Cottrell DC Fogarty Motlop Durdin Fantasia Moir Monahan (fighting for 4 spots max.) into the forward line?

And that's with some rotating through the midfield

WOW

Russell on Motlop "He’s a high-speed athlete"

Weren't some saying he was slow?

Also says in the article that his endurance has been a focus to allow him to better do repeated efforts.

My take on him... He is definitely a (very) quick player, he just didn't have the endurance to perform repeated sprints multiple times throughout a match.

If you fatigue quickly, you will appear slow.

I think it would be easier for all if they just GAVE us the CUP NOW! ;)

And while they are at it, Walshy the Brownlow and Charlie the Coleman.

There should be a medal for recruit of the year.......E.Hollands. :p

Blacres would have won it last year :thumbsu:
Currently 550-1 in a multi but shortening by the day.

no question - possibly something to do with this trusting thing the track watchers are mentioning - staying calm and knowing your team-mate is up to it, whatever "it" might have to be, could go a long way to pulling the handbrake on opposition run-ons.....

one poster called him "slow" - others, including me, suggested he wasn't as fast as some were saying...........

Durdin is quick, Motlop is definitely not at that level...
So what is Motlop then?

And no, he is not fast, fast is your top speed which Harry is, and quick is your acceleration of the mark.
As if Russell was going to say he is a medium-high speed athlete as it doesn't sound great or roll off the tongue even if it is closer to the truth.....

I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. Mots is quick (when not knackered) but not as lightning as some of the quicker players going around.
